Scientists 'grow' replica of the Crown Jewels

Scientists have got their hands on part of the Crown Jewels, by making their own.

Leading physicists have grown a replica of the Imperial State Crown, a key element of the world famous jewels held in the Tower of London.

They have also managed to reproduce the Duchess of Cambridge's engagement ring.

Amazing what an be done with household chems...love gemstones with a fascination, not the perception of wealth but the light plays and crystalline processes...

That is intriguing. I would like to myself someday counterfeit precious heirlooms of the world's elite. Actually, not really, but that looked like a fun task. I didn't know that synthetic precious stones were so easy to create.
