Still Waters Posted May 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Perhaps it is just one of those jokes which has got lost in translation - from the original Aramaic. Many of Jesus's best-known lines - such as the remark about it being easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God - could have been intended as jokes, it has been claimed. The suggestion came as clergy were invited to take part in stand-up comedy training to liven up their Sunday sermons. http://www.telegraph...medy-vicar.html
Stubbly_Dooright Posted May 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Well, why not?! I always like to joke with customers, to make them feel at ease. I think laughter is great! A great relaxer. And I think it's a great attention getter too. What way to have a form of compliments, is to have something joked (in good humor) about ya. Although, is this such a new thing? I always there some forms of comediennes in the church for some years now. I mean, they would have to be, when they write those oh so witty sayings on their Church front lawns Marques!

+Link of Hyrule Posted May 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2015 My favourite was one I passed a few years back, it said, come next Sunday and GET RICH QUICK* * store up treasure in heaven I think most pastors that I've heard are quite good as it is without training in stand-up, as long as the pastor is preaching God's word, I think they're doing their job correctly, if the emphasis is on humour rather than theology, it might appeal to more people but is ultimately detrimental to God's kingdom. My opinion, of course ~ Regards, PA
