bison Posted August 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) A binary asteroid with two lobes attached end to end, looking a good deal like a peanut, recently came within a few million miles of Earth. This asteroid is a bit over a mile in length, and is presumably the product of a collision between two smaller asteroids with elliptical shapes. The asteroid was imaged by radar a number of times. These images were combined into a motion picture, in which the two halves of the asteroid can be seen spinning around each other. For further details, the images, and the motion picture, see the article linked below: http://www.dailymail...th-weekend.html Edited August 1, 2015 by bison
Anomalocaris Posted August 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2015 Was cool to know how this asteroid is moving through space. Also interesting is the explanation about its origin. Great find.
