questionmark Posted August 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2015 DES MOINES — The road to the White House leads from the life-size cow carved from 600 pounds of butter here at the Iowa State Fair to the stand selling $7 grilled pork chops on a stick. There’s where Hillary Rodham Clinton was strolling on Saturday, shaking hands and posing for selfies with sweaty supporters under an unforgiving sun, when the whirring sound of helicopter blades approached, then grew louder, then louder still. “Look up in the sky!” Greta Tarbell, 63, cried out. “There’s Trump! He’s got his own helicopter. Have at it, baby!” Read more
Leo Krupe Posted August 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2015 A good example of just how clueless Trump is (from the linked article): “I have a crowd 10 times what Hillary had,” Trump boasted, though his estimate was definitely inflated. Earlier, reminding reporters he topped the latest polls here, Trump declared: “I love Iowa, great place. I’ve really developed a relationship with it.”One woman stood on a park bench and shouted, “Donald, we love you! Woooo!” But when a reporter asked if she really loved him, she shook her head sheepishly and said, “No, do you?” “He’s a spectacle and he’s ridiculous,” she said. “That’s why I wanted to shake his hand. . . . The state fair is about doing ridiculous things. And there’s nothing more ridiculous than Donald Trump being president.” Trump doesn't realize people are laughing at him, not with him.
Ashotep Posted August 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I'm sure some are laughing at him but I doubt all are. Who knows how many people that reporter interviewed before he came across someone that said this. Its called selective reporting.

spartan max2 Posted August 16, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I think his polls are so high because people are sick of politicians and he for sure is not a politician. My issue with him is that he is way too egotistical

My issue with him is that he is way too egotistical That is exactly it, him and Sanders are high in the polls because they are not the Washington establishment, whether that will result in winning the election is quite another story. Just being angry is a very bad reason to vote somebody totally incompetent as POTUS.

OTOH, being taken in by a silver-tongued deceiver and wanting to be part of the wave that elected a "first" into office were very bad reasons to vote for somebody totally incompetent as POTUS. Gromdor Posted August 16, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2015 The wife and I might go this afternoon if it's not too hot. This year's butter cow sculpture theme is "Monopoly" which somehow seems fitting.

Would like to have had my pork chop on a stick

acidhead Posted August 16, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 16, 2015 Political porn for the masses....I don't know what's more surprising... Donald/Hillary passing up the opportunity to battle it out in dramatic fashion on the Soapbox or not engaging each other on stage in the pie eating contest.... strange relationship these two have today. Sir Wearer of Hats Posted August 16, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 16, 2015 Political porn for the masses....I don't know what's more surprising... Donald/Hillary passing up the opportunity to battle it out in dramatic fashion on the Soapbox or not engaging each other on stage in the pie eating contest.... strange relationship these two have today. Especially when you think it was Bill who urged Donald to run. I'm genuinely worried that the "he couldn't be worse then the last two" and the "it'll be a laugh" votes will get Donald into the White House. Nobody else in the world, and especially those from Vietnam are guilty of that. Get real Frank. Enough of your America bashing. If your country is so great why do so many of your countrymen live here?Demogogue: a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument. Yamato Posted August 17, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Yeah, only Americans do that. Nobody else in the world, and especially those from Vietnam are guilty of that. Get real Frank. Enough of your America bashing. If your country is so great why do so many of your countrymen live here? I hate Frank's America bashing too, but he didn't say that. Other people demagogue too, but it's only "really scary" when Americans do it. (see military) If you trust in the aggression of your country (and all the arbitrary lies and nonsense our politicians say to justify it) so much that foreigners like Frank shouldn't be scared of it, I think you trust too much. Demogogue: (sp) a political leader who seeks support (every D, every R) by appealing to popular desires (safety and security) and prejudices (people from far away who live on top of oil) rather than by using rational argument (The Golden Rule in foreign policy)

That slogan he stole from Ronald Reagan, and to show how self-serving he is he patented it.
