Two people have been killed in a shooting outside a police building in Sydney, Australia.

According to Sky News Australia, a witness reported a man in a black gown wielding a gun as being among the dead after the shooting at the New South Wales police headquarters, which happened about 4.30pm local time.

The second victim is understood to have been working in IT for the police and was shot by the shooter before emergency services could respond.

He was only 15, a kid.

A delicate situation.

Radicalised youth, which has been a major concern for a long time has shown it's danger. The Parramatta Mosque has had claims laid against it that the killer received training and his weapon at that location, which is yet to be determined.

The PM, Malcolm Turnbull has urged Australians to remain calm in the wake of yet another religiously inspired terror attack.

Activists have protested, and anti protest protestors protested. Personally, I think the Anti Protest Protesters look entirely stupid when they call the Protestors "racist" it seems to show that they are so incredibly stupid that they do not even know the definitions of the slogans they hurl. If they cannot understand why people are concerned then they have no right claiming they care about their fellow man. They should listen to, and help the genuine real world concerns that have these protests happening in the first instance. They are as biased as those they protest against.

Now Mosques are supposed to be the good guys right? The radicals are supposed to be in the temporary Mosques, but this gun came from Parramatta Mosque.

Details about where he got the gun and its original source were established early in the investigation but the Telegraph was asked by police not to release details until after today’s raids.

Police believe Farhad Jabar was handed the gun he used in the Parramatta shooting at the mosque.

But the Mosque remains open. Any other crime scene and it would be shut.

The freedoms religion enjoys are far more than the average person would. And thanks to radicalisation, a kid is dead.

If religion truly is as respecting of others as it insists, how about they get together and act on this. This is not worth faith in an imaginary being.

Why is it not surprising that homicide and gun crimes in general go up when guns are banned? Oh yeah, criminals love knowing victims are helpless.

Are you in the right thread???

I do not understand how your comment applies to the title? This incident was a terrorist attack.

Psyche is right.

Did you read the article properly ?

A small insert from the article below if you are interested.

It is understood police became aware of a plans for a possible attack on Parramatta headquarters 12 months ago.

Australia has been on heightened alert for attacks by home-grown Islamist radicals since last year and in December two people were killed when police stormed a central Sydney cafe to end a 17-hour siege.

You mean RIGHT OUTSIDE A POLICE STATION (hint: it's where there are many guns) is an indictment of how we are a mostly gun free environment?

Also this might be a good read for you, adds a little context to your argument: http://www.snopes.com/crime/statistics/ausguns.asp

With emphasised reference to this paragraph:

'Given this context, any claims based on statistics (even accurate ones) which posit a cause-and-effect relationship between the gun buyback program and increased crime rates because "criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed" are automatically suspect, since the average Australian citizen didn't own firearms even before the buyback. But beyond that, most of the statistics offered here are misleading and present only "first year results" where long-term trends need to be considered in order to draw valid cause-and-effect conclusions.'
