Still Waters Posted January 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2016 A skeleton discovered buried under a primary school playground could be that of a 16th century pirate, archaeologists have said. The remains of a man were uncovered by council workers during survey work for an extension at Victoria Primary School in Newhaven, Edinburgh. Experts at AOC Archaeology carbon dated the bones to the 16th or 17th centuries and, working with forensic artist Hayley Fisher, created a facial reconstruction of the man who is thought to have been in his fifties. http://www.telegraph...ary-school.html

highdesert50 Posted January 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 7, 2016 What a tremendous opportunity to bring tangible relevance to a school setting. If we could convince ourselves as to the importance of education, perhaps we might be more forthcoming with funding to bring schools to regional research and development settings and immerse the young when they can still dream.
