Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton:

Likely Guy

Recommended Posts

"It is remarkable how a country that is so good at business, science, the arts and just about everything else can be so bad at politics. There are now 318 million Americans, including many of the world’s most creative and brilliant people: the US electorate ought by rights to be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing its president.

Yet from this immense talent pool, the American political system has managed to narrow the race down to two supremely flawed human beings, neither of whom remotely deserves to be in the White House.

On the one hand we have Hillary Clinton, a scandal-ridden, uninspiring candidate whose Left-wing policies would destroy what is left of US exceptionalism; on the other is Donald Trump, a demagogue who specialises in whipping up hate and threatening cataclysmic trade wars."

America! What have you done?

Maybe November 2020. The nightmare won't be over until then.

Things are going to get very ugly fast, I imagine, with what comments I've heard so far from these two candidates.

Judging by available betting odds, the % likelihood of being prez is 75 Hillary, 25 Trump. Assuming those two are the final candidates.

Curious as to where you got those odds. Not that I disagree but from what I've read in recent polls the percentiles have shrunk quite a bit.

I dunno why we're beating around the bush. We could have just had the WWF champion as the candidate and renamed our country Idiocracy.

I knew, as a country, we aren't the sharpest tool in the shed, but I guess I had more faith in people than they deserved. I thought the majority were at least smarter than this.

What's truly wrong is a two party system. We get a Republican President the house and Senate Democrats won't work with them on every matter. We get a Democrat President and the house and Senate Republicans won't work with them on every matter. Same old, same old. Maybe why Trump is leading, we've seen too many filibusters and general nonsense from our legislative process.

There is some variation among betting agencies, but 70/30 would be about the extreme at the moment.

For what it's worth, if I was an American, I would have backed Kasich. But everyone knows that a moderate of any stripe is unelectable.

But now you pretty much have a establishment friendly neoconservative in Clinton, the "Democrat" and an establishment friendly megalomaniac former liberal in Trump, the "Republican". WTF?

Outside of another revolution or civil war, can anyone come up with a reasonable and viable method to fix the system? I listen intently to south of the border and everyone agrees with what you just said. The system is either broken or no longer works. Does the US need to have a constitutional convention to get rid of the stranglehold of the two party system?

To be fair, can anyone provide a likewise picture of Trump. I know that there must be a least one or two.
