I actually read somewhere that it is very common and a part of some stage of sleep...can't remember exactly what, but it used to happen to me all the time...not so much now though...
It is a trippy thing...lol

I've had it happen a few times as well, normally within 20mins of falling asleep.

  • Sticks and stone didnt break my bone,
But old age is starting to Hurt me!

Posted 11 January 2005 - 05:59 AM

I suffer from sleep apnoea and now sleep with a blower that pushes 18 psi down my nose so my body dose not forget to breath . Before it was diagnosed I would fall asleep at work, in the middle of conversations, and yes while driving. I found that when i though I was falling, some times I was. Ended up on the floor more than once.
But I don't think this would be your problem unless you are tired all the time, even after a nights sleep.

This is a strange phenomenon. I don't ever get the feeling that I'm just falling. Everytime this happens to me, I have the distinct feeling that I've just slipped big time on a patch of ice. I have no fear of ice or of things that are slippery, but I never just "fall" like off of a cliff, I simply slip... classic cartoon style legs fly up in front of you slipping. And its quite a strange feeling. blink.gif blink.gif
