First,Tommy, how many of Nostradamus's
prophesies am I going to have to offer my opinion to? I find it personally repulsive and greatly disturbing that after every major disaster or tragedy in the world, someone has to trot out the cryptic and radically mistranslated writings of a 'failed' prophet. The failure greatly enhanced by the ludicrous and innocuous 'translations' and 'interpretations' offered by supposed 'experts', whose opinions, of course, can only be had by relinquishing one's hard earned cash. Here is a question I have for you; why is it that no one can 'correctly' interpret these true 'prophesies' until after the fact? Might it be that they are so obtuse and nonspecific that they hold little meaning until someone can find some close 'match' to it? Is it possible that somewhere within the last
500 years since its publication, some coincidences may have occurred throughout history that may have some minuscule relationship to some experts interpretation of a specific 'prophesy'? We've certainly been witness to the reliability of his prediction about the end of the world, haven't we? Search for the 'meaning' of this specific quatrain (1st century, 87th verse) on google and you will see eight different 'interpretations' on the first page alone. Who are we to believe? This isn't directed specifically at you, Tommy, but I can only marvel at the gullibility and ignorance of people. You are only asking me a question about a highly dubious claim, I am in no way stating that you believe it. There is a thread in the
MIND, SPACE & TIME category about Nostradamus(2nd page). Go there for more information and click on the link I provide to a credible and thoroughly researched website on him. It dispells many myths and gives an accurate history of his 'true' life and writings. Believe it or not, it doesn't cost you a dime.
There are several specifics I would like to answer. First, here is the 'correct' translation to the quatrain and the site I took it from;
"Volcanic fire from the center of the earth
will cause trembling around the new city:
Two great rocks will make war for a long time.
Then Arethusa will redden a new river." http://run.to/nostradamus Quite a difference from your 'translation', isn't it? Suddenly the interpretation loses much of its similarity to recent events, doesn't it? Notice the one I offer comes directly from the original book which is also prominently displayed. I'm not sure how much 'faith' you have in Henry Robert's, but here are a couple links that delve into his 'reliability' and the inaccuracies of his 'interpretations' in the past. It may open your eyes to the uselessness of attempting any deciphering of Nostradamus's writings. Or not, that is a decision you must make for yourself;
