So, today Sony Computer Entertainment America, hereafter refered to as SCEM, has announced the US release date and price of their new handheld gaming system, the very pretty looking PSP.

Release Date: March 24th 2005
Release Price: $249 USD and $299.99 CND

It's a little higher in price than i expected that's for sure and the main question on everyones minds is of course, is it worth it?

I must say, it's very appetizing! My mouth waters at the thought. I love the back of it, shown in the second picture. That's very neat.
I wonder how much though, the games, movies etc for it will be? That's where the hidden prices start.

Ill wait for the price to drop 50 $ first . I find this a little weird , since most places thought we would get a better price then japan .

Yeah. But in actualy fact, in japan they're getting an amazing bundle, which i think is 180 bucks american and they get a memory card and everything with it.

Apparently it costs $30 for psps dvd`s, according to a gaming magazine where they already have their hands on it. Now thats just too much, it makes no sense when you can buy them for much cheaper normally, but I would assume those prices would go down. The PSP does look very pretty and has some amazing features but its battery only lasts for 4 or 5 hours at a time, that would annoy me soooo much.

im sure there are battery or power life expansions for another wad of money their looking for from you. yeah im just hoping i have enough for the PSP and at least one game for it. it sucks that the dvds will be so expensive. maybe they will sell blank ones that you can copy the regular dvds on to.

thats actualy what i thought they would do in the first place. i didnt know they were actualy gonna make cds and dvds just for that thing. its a good way to make money, but its less likely to work.

That's how they get ya.
Remember the NGage? With that thing not only did you need to buy the damned thing, you also had to buy the additional PARTS to be able to play games and use it to surf etc etc. Rip off.

yeah that thing was stupid. the controls on it were also impossible to master. they also came out with another version of it last year for like the same price. bad way to try and make money. i feel sorry for the suckers who actualy bought it. plus, you had to pay monthly for the online part, which was kinda expensive for a little thing like that.
