There are some "phantom" animals reported in cities. They're usually named "phantom" because they seem to disappear.

I'm suprised no one mentioned the Jersey Devil.
Especially you Walken, being an X-Files fan.

You Might Be Canadian If...

-You know that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) don't always look like that.
-You can eat more than one maple sugar candy without feeling nauseous.
-You think -10 C is mild weather.
-You know the ingredients for poutine.
-You die a little inside if you can't get your Tim's double-double every morning.
-You know the difference between real snow and "television" snow -- the white stuff that passes for snow on tv and in films. You scream, "For Christsake! That should be sticking to their pants!" and "Lookit, it's not melting! That's *so* not snow!" when watching 'Winter' scenes.
-You understand the phrase "Could you pass me a serviette, I just dropped my poutine, on the chesterfield."

Here is a first-order urban cryptid. This is no April Fools (or Hallowe'en) joke. What it is - is one scary entity. This is the cryptid other cryptids kowtow to. It can rip the doors off anything or anyone! As humans we are WAY, WAY - out of our league! It's an extremely powerful psychic fiend that can appear in various different guises - usually as a face-less monk or possibly as a trenchcoat mafia hitman type - again no face! I call IT an intra-terrestrial. It knows your name and "speaks" to you loud and clear in very abrupt telepathic fashion. This in plain English.

I had the displeasure of making it's acquaintance. I have no idea how I managed to survive my encounter - very very biocidal vampiric creature. Check this story - mine is similar (except worse!) Woman Confronts Attackers Pure Evil. My friend also encountered it. It was not a pleasant experience.

Lots of people are reporting this marauding malevolence. Google for (sleep paralysis +hooded) It's no mass hallucination nor is it due to REM sleep disturbance - I honestly wish it were! This is an external manifestation! As mere mortals we are absolutely defenseless against this hyper-intelligent, monstrously evil entity!

Historically known as the Genii Cucullati (Hooded Wizard!) w00t.gif Characterized as "Ghost of Christmas Future" in Charles Dickens: A Christmas Carol. Very morose - strictly business-type character. Unbelievably evil and unbelievably powerful. It knows the "password" into the human psyche. You are paralysed in its presence and your respiration is suspended - not difficult but rather impossible to breathe. Your breathing is somehow switched off when in its presence. Strange sort of paralysis - you typically can move your head but nothing below the neck-line plus no yelling for help! Not a peep! In the later stage of your encounter it becomes impossible to move your head - only your eyes! Very near death situation - you are absolutely in a suspended state of affairs! This paralysis can occurr in ufo and other cryptid/ghostly encounters. It has to do with the human DNA hyper-dimension. You have absolutely no "say" in the matter. You can work out on steroids for the rest of your life - makes no difference - it's the boss and it will stand you on your head. Very strange "metrics" in these encounters. Some people don't make it - read about the Hmong tribe and SUNDS - also implicated (anecdotaly) in SIDS mellow.gif

She stands around...outside Seriously chatting to herself, and every person that walks past she asks for a ciggerette (sp?) even if shes already smoking one....
She is a wierd one to say the least.

I walked past her once and she was talking to herself (facing the other way) talking about how her son is coming over in a few weeks...i was just thinking .Wtf.

Maybe at a stretch you could also include the creature that left mysterious footprints one night (somewhere in the southwest UK I believe), that went on for miles, over rooftops and over some pretty awkward obstacles.

I believe that was the Jersey Devil, Hoagy. Hoofprints everywhere, I've seen it before but can't find it...

No, the one Hoagy is referring to isn't the Jersey Devil. JD is in the States, he's referring to an historic Brit mystery that's never been solved. It's known as the mystery of the Devil in Devon. Here's a site that tells all about it:
Devil in Devon

As for Merlin, Geoffrey of Monmouth created Merlin by combining a sixth or seventh century Welsh bard named Myrddin with tales told about a boy named Ambrosius or Emrys.Merlin

Phantom Kangaroos, I can see in the states and else where that would be odd, but hell at my parents property we have hundreds of the buggas, in broad daylight too!

My take on these guys, shine a light in their eyes, they glow red, (DEMON EYES)
corner a kangaroo and with one kick its claws can disembowl you, Kangaroos hiss by sucking air through the front incisors and make grunting, thumping and many other freaky noises you hear in the middle of the bush.

Take a few facts and that 6 foot, red eyed, hissing, jumping demon you saw, is an escaped roo from the local zoo.

And in full hop they travel at about 20 to 30 mp/h.

Uh the Jersey Devil isn't really urban. ITs almost exclusively seen in or around the area known as the Pine Barrens. This is a fairly desolate wooded area in South Jersey with a few small towns. Its not praticularly highy developled.

well where i live... there are a few.. well...like the scroggin monster... which could well be real.. i mean it supposibly lives in the like most pouted river in maine...so it could just be some mutated toxic fish monster majiggy...then i think in northern town ive heard a little of a maine bigfoot which lives near the little urban areas but i have only heard of them once or twice......and then do the like aligators in the sewers of like new york NY count.....i mean sure you could find lots.. not many that make lots of sence but there has to be some out there since there is so much urban area now...

Peace
