A rare snake-like creature found in Siberia Russia. They are extremely rare to find, to find one you would have to travel to Siberia Russia, Siberia is known for having massive snow, well there is a jungle part in the middle of Siberia that doesn't snow, but going there is really dangerous cause there are swamps and crocodiles and poisionous snakes living there...

Are they only in parts of Russia?
I can honestly say I've never seen one like it before.

I think you can find them in Japan, because the name Tsuchinoko is Japanese. But I doubt they live there, maybe they travel to Siberia and capture them and bring them back to Japanese zoo's. I'm not quiet sure exactly though, they are so rare it would be like finding a needle in a hay stack. The above picture is a picture from Metal Gear Solid 3, in the game you get a bonus for capturing one of these... But its based on a real myth, its not just a video game... I seen some pictures of a man holding one of these in his arms, it looks like snake-slug with bent teeth.

There are acouple of threads on this. Its an existing type of snake that lacks the physiological structure of normal snakes.

I've read about these before. From what I can remember there has never been one studied or captured by any reliable source. One theory was that it is just a snake with a large mid body bulge from a big meal.

An interesting critter. I'd like to hear more about it.

I've never heard of it Siberia. There are no jungles in Siberia, or crocs.

Wikipedia Time!

The West Siberian Plain consists mostly of Cenozoic alluvial deposits and is extraordinarily flat, so much so that a rise of fifty metres in sea level would cause all land between the Arctic Ocean and Novosibirsk to be inundated. Many of the deposits on this plain result from ice dams; having reversed the flow of the Ob and Yenisei Rivers, so redirecting them into the Caspian Sea (perhaps the Aral as well). It is very swampy and soils are mostly peaty Histosols and, in the treeless northern part, Histels. In the south of the plain, where permafrost is largely absent, rich grasslands that are an extension of the Kazakh steppe formed the original vegetation (almost all cleared now).

The Tsuchinoko also makes an appearance in Castlevania:Aria of Sorrow.
