I think if any one of you lived back there, you might be a little perturbed as well, and chase people away. I grew up on Long Island and can completely sympathize with these people. Cause I like thousands of others, went to see the Amityville house. In my teen years it was awesome to scare yourself silly and go to look at the house with the glaring "eye" windows. Only to be disappointed, as the house is not nearly as creepy as the movie... it is in a crowded suburban neighborhood, not too much unlike my own, and the "eye" windows don't even face the road. Adding to the story, my father was working in the police precinct that covers the home, during the origional "Defeo" (sp) slayings. He was quite adamant that the "voices story" came from a kid high on PCP (with a known history of prior drug abuse). , who hallucinated and killed his entire family with a shotgun. Of course, as I grew older I to learned that the entire "ensuing Ghost Story" was a hoax to get a family that couldn't afford the house, out, and to eventually earn themselves millions. The house has always been occupied by families, none of which have such "haunted" nonsense happening to them. If the house was truely haunted it would surely be abandoned by now. Now the poor families that live around the house have to deal with morons like me driving by at 2 in the morning and some probably causing quite a ruckus. (notice I said the families around the house.... I feel no such compasion for the person who actually lives there, cause I'm sure they were well aware of what they got themselves into when they bought the place, at what I'm sure, was a well discounted cost. Painting it yellow doesn't make the address any different, and any kid on LI knows the address) I live in N Wilmington and my husband, whom I have known for 9 years told me lots of stories of this "Satan" house, but has yet to show it to me. My father inlaw worked for Bell Atlantic in the eighties, and said he has actually been inside the home, and said there's nothing at all creepy about it.... just the trees that grow away from the house. He actually mocks my husband for believing the stories. I am indeed curious, but also leary of bugging innocent residents on an unfortunate road. (a true sign that I am getting old

... ) I would love to see pictures of this house, but unfortunately it appears most of the pics on these posts aren't available anylonger and are replaced with boxes with red x's in them...

. I am a believer in a good ghost story and can't wait to hear more stories about the house/street.
