Illegal immigration into the United States is out of control, particularly across our southern border. Several members of Congress and Governors have declared states of emergency. The problem is not merely the number of illegal immigrants. In addition to the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants from Central and South America, there are several hundreds, perhaps thousands, of illegal aliens from countries that sponsor terrorism or harbor terrorists entering the United States each year across our border with Mexico. Thus, it is a national security issue as well as an immigration issue.

I thought you had a fence that ran the length of the boarder between America and Mexico?

I don't know about an actual FENCE, but i thought there was some barbed wire, chicken wire, or something like that. again, not a fence, but at least some semblance of one? hmm.gif

Even if we did it wouldn't be enough as it is now..The Border Patrol is one of the most poorly equipped and understaffed things going..We'd really need to beef up security and restructure how we do things..Even the highest wall can be breached if there's nobody to patrol it..

Agree with Falco. We're an island and we still get a huge amount of immigrants. They'll just find more and more inventive ways to get across the border

I don't blame them, I would do exactly the same if I were them. So would you.

Just hope that one day you donít find yourself in the position of not being able to feed your family and having to make an illegal crossing so you can make some money to feed your children!

I lived in Mexico City for 5 years, and I understand what they are trying to achieve. Even though I donít condone the ways in which they try and achieve it.

Seriously, I don't care for their reasons.  People have ways of changing their government if they want a better life.  If they want to come to the US, there are LEGAL ways.  I moved to Austin recently, I was staggered at the number of people on the streets with signs looking for work.  So to say that their coming to the US doesn't hurt Americans doesn't fly.  I'll admit though that our corporations and government turns a blind eye in exchange for the cheap labor, and in doing so they are weakening us.

I don't blame them either...Not one bit. And I don't wish them any ill at all..
But I do know this..
Letting everyone in isn't the answer for any of us..
Having another country you know you can easily run to almost guarantees you'll never expend any effort to improve your own..
Don't like it? Stage a revolution, work To effect political and economic change..Do something anyway..It's worked many times in the past..
