I got a question for anyone who knows. The first Amittyville Movie was the one that was supposedly based on a true story right? The rest were just window dressing, is that right?

That's correct. But it is reported to be fake. Butch Defeo (the one who shot his family and then blamed it on hearing demons) now claims that he never heard any demons, that was what his attorney told him to say. And the Lutz family (except for George(the father) last time I checked) claim that they fabricated the story, and that they really didn't see anything. no.gif what a let down. crying.gif

George Lutz maintains that events in the book are "mostly true" and denies any suggestion of dishonesty on his part. In a television interview with the History Channel broadcast in October 2000 he commented: "I have never said it was a hoax and I never will, because it is not a hoax. That doesn't mean that everything that was ever said about it was true, but it is certainly not a hoax. I wish it was. It's not." The debate about the validity of the hauntings continues, and it should be noted that the present occupants of the house have reported no problems while living there.
