staring means concentration, if u concentrate in any subject soon or later you get fair result.
not only staring, even using an object with your full concentration repeatedly gains energy.
you just saving your overflow energy. we can't say that as stealing... may be saving

because energy always exist here, its up to us to take or don't care.

I use to do this so often I don't like looking at myself at all.  I've never had any moving colours or melting effects, just this sudden sensation like I wasn't always this person or a "how did I get here" kind of feeling.  Never really had any feelings on reincarnation or anything like that so it always seems bizarre.

Have you ever stared at yourself in the mirror for a long time, fixing your eyes on your own without moving, let's say for about 5 to 10 straight minutes? I did this years ago. After a while I started to look very weird and had to look away, probably had something to do with the after-image created from looking for so long super-imposed on my face. Kinda felt like I was tripping or something, never had the guts to try it again. I don't think it's anything paranormal but it sure is strange. Give it a try sometime if you're in the mood and let me know if you get the effect. Maybe it's just me. style_emoticons/default/dontgetit.gif

I tried it but my mirror broke before it even reaches 5 minutes. :innocent:

I was staring at my eyes in a mirror for quite some time. I was focusing on controlling the dilation of my pupils.

No luck, and I just got tired.

Noticed nothing out of the ordinary.

It's called the Troxler effect, basically your brain is hardwired to ignore things that are constant because if we had to remember to breathe and to blink manually life would suck like hell, so are brain relies on your subconcious to do this. When you look constantly in the mirror, looking at your face, your face has no center point to constantly to look at so your ignorant brain starts to delete parts of your face (At least that's how it looks like) This also is why the "Bloody Mary" Legend seems very scary to some people.

Meh. I feel a strange sense of profane vanity whenever I stare at myself in the mirror so I wouldn't even bother doing this. Probably wouldn't have the patience anyway haha.

i used to enjoy this while on acid or mushrooms. it can be quite horrifying to see yourself so warped and twisted. ive never tried this sober but on hallucinagenics its quite grotesque. i usually have a goblin-ish face with overly round eyes and my teeth appear to be further appart and sharper. ughhhh yuck

The only inclination I get from staring at myself for too long in the mirror is this sudden urge to make out with myself. ;D To be honest though, I only use mirrors to put on make up, never really concentrated on myself, I'll try it later.

It is used for divination. But mirrors as a medium has ill repute.

It is called scrying. In fact, some (not me) believe you will see past lives you had lived.

"I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession; that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: which in its own times he shall show, WHO IS THE BLESSED AND ONLY POTENTE, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS; who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen" (I Tim 6:13-16).

I tried that before, and I get freaked out by MY OWN eyes!
They just look scary...
Also, my eyes are strange..because everytime I try to focus on something, it turns double. So yeh, it might be my eyes playing tricks on me...

that's because your eyes aren't both looking at the same thing. So they send your brain two different pictures, which get overlapped.

Normally both eyes focus on one exact point, and they both send a picture that overlaps, and has a little extra on the edges.

Like if you hold your finger up a foot from your eye it will double because you arent focusing at that depth, so your eyes see it in 2 different ways. then if you focus at your finger, the background will double.

Overlapping images hey? Yeah well it is both sexy and scary at the same time...beautiful and hideous simultaneously!
