I remember reading that yawning is your bodies way of increasing oxygen to the brain when it feels it is not getting enough.
Now as far as why it is contagious, I dunno hmm.gif

If it's to do with oxgen, maybe it's an alert system to others who are close by, if one starts yawning then everyone else must to get more oxgen to the brain....or something

Another thing I've noticed...sometimes you can yawn while you're near someone, and even if there isn't any way they could have known you just yawned, they can still copy you...something chemical maybe?

i heard that when you see someone yawn it triggers something in your brain and reminds you of tiredness so you yawn aswell

i dont know if its true but i also heard that you dont yawn only because you are tired but also because you havent been breathing alot of air in so when you yawn you take in alot of air and feel better.   sleepy.gif
