A mysterious creature known as "Little Doug" has been generating a lot if interest in the Hull maritime museum. Nobody has yet been able to identify what the creature is, and theories range from a cross breed between a dog and a frog, to mermaids, to some sort of mutant seahorse. I observed one family who were brought to the museum by that very article as they painstakingly studied little Doug. Dad didn't have a clue what it was, kids settled on Dragon or Sprite, and mum suggested it was the 'strangest thing she'd ever seen in her life!' High praise indeed! And a fitting tribute to Arthur's little secret.

When I asked another lady who had read the article what it was, she eyed me mysteriously as she uttered 'no one knows'.The comments book is almost full with what must be over a thousand suggestions of little Doug's identity."

A hippocampus is half fish/half horse. They have a horse's head, chest and front legs then their torso turns into a fish torso ending with a fish tail. I think this is most likely a fake. A desperate attempt from a museum in financial hardship. If it's not a hoax then I suppose this is where this legendary steed came from. Has anyone else heard of or seen any evidence of the legendary Hippocampus?[attachmentid=27722][attachmentid=27722]

Hippocampus was the Greek god Poseidon's messengers. They were the horses of the sea. According to Greek myth, all horses came from the sea and was created by Poseidon to aid humanity. The Hippocampus itself was a house and fish hybrid. The Trojan Horse was build to honor Poseidon due to its connection with the horses:)

There looks to be a hand or appendage of some sort in that pic(four fingers and a thumb)...how do they account for this? It looks like nothing more than a "thrown-together" shock-value type of P.T. Barnum side-show attraction........and the "entertainment" heading of the article dosen't lend to any type of authenticity either, lol.
