Downingtown Tunnels

They don't *really* go into D-Town anyway, they're closer to Exton (IMO). A distinction a non local wouldn't make, however.

I have been through here quite a few times... Never heard the UL however. I've never noticed anything either. Good find BBH. Probably not much to it. We seem to live in a rather UL infested area.

We heard of it from a friend who lived five minutes from it. It's spooky at night, but nothing has ever happened to us in all the times weve been there. We do, however, want to check out the third tunnel which is filled with water. It only looks about 2 ft. deep. I don't of many people who have heard of this legend.

Too many people want to believe that hell has air-conditioning.

I think you're combining the two legends of the place. They say a woman was murdered there and put in a suitcase. I've never heard of a woman hanging herself there.
I always put my murder victims in suitcases. Samsonite only tho. Did I say that out loud?

The murder however was quite real. 'The Pennsylvania Suitcase Jane Doe' as it's known rocked Chester County back in '95, and remains unsolved to this day.
The suitcase murder was the feature story of our first issue, hell- the cover of our first issue is of one of the tunnels.

Hope this helps some of you explorers.

No, we didn't really see anything like that. We took a bunch of pictures and stuff but there was no help me. There is actually a third tunnel that is about 2 feet deep with water. The only way to explore it is with boots... we are planning on investigating that next.
One of my good friends lives in Downingtown and he said he's been in the tunnels. He caught some freaky stuff on camera too. I'll have to get it from him or perhaps have him take me there.

It's a pretty creepy place at night. Basically, the darkness makes your mind play tricks on you. Good place to go to get yourself freaked out.

I went there last night, this is qouted from my MySpace (Jonny Distance is my friend and bandmate and yes that it is his name):
"Well, I went there with Jonny Distance, mildly skeptical at first I had a slight claustrophobic feeling when first driving through (but an unlit tunnel will do that to you)
Jonny D and I turned around and went back through to go home, I told him to turn on his high beams and he did, all the sudden they flickered, in front of me I saw a shadow running to the right in front of the car and dissappear.
I was freaked out. I asked Jonny if he had seen anything he said "a thing at the right of the car."
When I asked where specifically without giving any specifics as to where I saw it he confirmed what I saw.
It was either of two things, a girl that was hacked up and put in a suitcase in there from the early nineties or a man that had hung himself from the connecting wire of the bridge"
unfortunately we don't have any conclusive proof, other than a cell phone video of 16 seconds that doesn't show anything becasue of bad lighting/quality/nothing happened that time through
On a different account when Jonny D went through the tunnel with his friend and his friend's girlfriend the door that his friend's girlfriend was sitting next to though locked swung open and shut immediately
When they got to a nearby WaWa, they observed handprints were on her arm

The Downingtown 'twin' tunnels have a sordid bit of history, but the hanging and subsequent haunting of the tunnel is, for now, just folklore.
The murder however was quite real. 'The Pennsylvania Suitcase Jane Doe' as it's known rocked Chester County back in '95, and remains unsolved to this day.

I've been to the tunnels dozens of times yet nothing of the sorts has ever come of it.
