When we first moved into our house (almost 11 years ago) we were very happy to have a house, but we weren't completely comfortable.
For one, my wife and I always felt uneasy when turning off the lights at the end of the day. We each, without having said anything to each other, had the feeling that we were not alone and, were, in fact being stared at by someone, or something.
Second, there were sounds, house sounds really, always in another room, always just slightly louder or more insistent than was normal.
Most ominously, there was this smell in my son's room. It smelled of dead animal. but both my wife and I had noticed, again independently of each other, that the smell was always in a very specific spot, that is, unless you walked through the particular spot, you would not smell it; and the spot moved around!
Several days after my wife and i finally appraised each other of the things we had noticed, my wife called me at work and asked me if I had seen our son before leaving for work that day. I usually left for work at about 6:15 AM, my wife would still be asleep, bu my son would sometimes get up and have breakfast with me. I told her I had not seen him that day, since he had not come out of his room.
When I got home that evening, my wife asked our son to tell me what had happened to him that morning. He told me that he had been awake when I left, he had heard me go out the front door, he just had not wanted to get out of bed, He said that shortly after I left, someone came in his room and hit him in the middle of his back, very hard, and then laughed at him and ran out of the room. My son was 4 years old! A spirit had struck and laughed at him! In our house! Because we had let him. At that moment, my wife and I knelt down in our living room and turned ownership of our house over to God. We thanked Him for His provision for us, and asked that He remove any evil entities from the premises, and send angels to guard our house. The consistent issues ended immediately. Every now and then we have noticed that uneasiness again, and we immediately inform the entity that this house is the Lord's property and they leave.

"But then with me that horrid doubt always arises whether the convictions of man's mind which has been developed from the mind of the lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy. Would any one trust in the convictions of a monkey's mind, if there are any convictions in such a mind?" - Charles Darwin, in a letter to William Graham on July 3, 1881
