Speaking of which, back on topic: I just don't know, like in Xerxes' case, HOW you came to this conclusion - what has convinced you that "demons are spirits who do not have rest and hide within darkness and lies to shield themselves"?

Regarding Danr's post, I have read about jinn and them being considered a sort of elemental/spirit thing, and there being good and bad ones, and the idea that demons are evil jinn. It is an interesting and different idea from the usual one, as it is from a related but fairly different framework of belief.

demons are creatures of judeo-christian myth, islamic culture talks of the djinn who are the firstborn or fireborn, creatures of spirit, immortal but not evil. In Irish myth they were the Sidhe (pronounced 'she'), the Morrigan and Thagda were described as hooded and cloaked in shadow when seen by men. Only the advent of monotheism made them demons...

the sidhe were known for offering 'gifts' to men in exchange for some price demanded later; a double-edged gift which may often have backfired on their receiver; they tended to give people "what they asked for", but exactly, without understanding the human viewpoint, hence being known as evil because they were suspected of tricking people (read the sagas and myths for examples); this translated into them being known as evil, conniving trickster demons...

so, no, demons are not evil; nor are they demons, spiritual entities who are utterly beyond our comprehension and therefore alien, therefore making us fear them.

Demons are not angelic in nature, they are once human souls enslaved in a form by those fallen angels. Some of them would like to have your house, that is, your body.

Some of them will be nice to you at the beginning, simply because they are bored and you have a house. But sooner or later they will expose their true face.

sad dream. I've had similar ones with people like that, the brain can do alot of strange things.

So have I, just with diffrent scenarios.... but it was a dream, and that's all it was. It doesn't have any signifigance to real life

Sorry to be picky, but I don't think saying that the meaning was corrupted is correct, anyone who knows anything about linguistics will tell you that language is constantly evolving and that the process never stops, so to say that the word evolved or changed would be more correct.

Sorry I know this is irrelevant, I'm just very fussy about language.

But your actual post was interesting, I didn't know that at all.

It just sounds like a dream to me with no real bearing on reality, beyond any psychological interpretation.

Due to my own personal experiences, demons are evil. Atleast the things i've experienced were evil and i call them demons because to me that word suits it perfect. To each his own. That's just my take on it. =]

and what was the 'reasearch' you have done in this field?
besides, whats the point of a demon taking over our body. think about it, they take over everyones body in the world and then....what?
whats the purpose of that? say they take over us, and kill us all...what purpose is that? what does this accomplish for them?
