The only place that would repair an N64 would be one of those mom and pp game shops. Nintendo won't repair it for you because of its age and they don't produce them anymore.

It would probobly be cheaper to buy another one then to get it repaired though. I don't think your going to find anybody to fix it.

they arn't too expensive nowadays, but if you do want it repaired, some pawnshops do repairs.

You probably got ripped off by them selling a broken N64 to you...you could go to those older gaming shops and have it repaired.

I think I know why its not working now. When I hook everything up and turn it on the red light flashes on but theres no picture. Carefully looking at the catridge insert slot I can see doghair and it looks like crumbs inbetween the teeth and below it. (Blowing on it wouldnt work, its stuck).

Take the crumbs and dog hair out...use a one of those ear cleaner things(what are they called again?) or a tooth pick...or blow harder...

Don't blow, your just putting spit and moisture in with it, a keyboard vacuum works wonders once the stuff is loosened up...

A good cleaning should help greatly. I love my Nintendo 64 because it is so reliable. With no moving parts there is very little to break. Good luck with yours. Where did you get your Nintendo 64 by the way?

When you do get it working, you can find games at a variety of places for cheap. Ebay is a good start but most of my games were purchased at pawn shops, garage sales, or used video game stores. I just clean the cartridge and contacts really good and have yet to get a cartridge that doesn't work.

Or canned air. Much more powerful than you could blow anyway.

To clean the rest, I usually use a q-tip dipped in diluted rubbing alcohol on the contacts until it comes off clean then wipe it wih another q-tip with just water and then follow with a dry one to remove any moisture. Its amazing how much dirt can come off of some of those contacts. Make sure it is completely dry before you apply any power to it.

If you avoid the step with the water the RA with evaporate quite quickly. Water near anything electronic is a bad thing.....

I forgot about canned air..... I need to go get some actually original.gif

I use the water to make sure there are no sugars from the rubbing alcohol left on the contacts. Wouldn't want them corroding. I then make sure they are completely dry. Water is not a problem as long as it completely dries. I forgot to mention that I use distilled water as well.

Distilled would make a difference considering it's not conductive to electricity, I didn't know RA had sugar in it thumbsup.gif

RA is not always pure isopropyl alcohol. Sometimes it has ethanol in it as well. Even still, sugars was probably not the right word to use. I just want to make sure absolutely nothing is left on it. Since I usually get the RA from the wife, I don't really know how pure it is. Most of the time though, I just use water. The important thing is that the contacts are clean.
