First of all I'd just like to say hello to you all again, I miss this place!

I would like to learn how to create finger waves/pin curled hair, as I love vintage hairstyles. I have read instructions on websites but they have no been much good, it is all so complicated! I am quite good at curling my hair now, if this would help?

You too wub.gif

I looked at that site, it confused me so much sad.gif

I find that using strong hair mousse makes me hair stay in place longer, along with lots of spray!

Hey SC .. good to see ya around again .. wavey.gif

I too like vintage hairstyles, so classy, but I've never wore any of the styles .. they don't work with my type of hair.

Good luck with finding the styles and how to fix them ... would like to see a pic of you sporting one .. grin2.gif

This I do know , I went to cosmotoligy college and was an A student but unfortunately my parents couldnt afford for me to continue. Anyway, that is a basic Sculptured Curls wet set.
1} SCULPTING GELL
2} FINE HAIR COMBS [MANS COMB WITH A LONG HANDLE}
WET HAIR PUT THE SCULPTING GELL ON IT SECTION IT OUT PART IN MIDDLE THEN EVERY 2 INCHESE DO THE SAME PART ALL AROUND LIKE LINES DRAWN DIRECTLY FROM FORHEAD TO THE CROWN AREA OF SCALP. IF YOU WANT THE PART TO BE ON THE SIDE START FROM MAKING THE PART ON THE SAIDE , TAKE YOUR COMB SECTION A 2 INCH PART OF HAIR WITH THE GELL ALREADY IN HAIR, PART. SECTION PLACE FIRST FINGER AND THE MIDDLE FINGER TOGETHER AGAINST THE SCALP, AS THE OTHER HAND TAKES COMB AND COMBS UPWARD WITHOUT MOVING THE FINGERS ON THE SCALP, SO YOUR MOLDING THE HAIR IN A SCULPTURE WAVE BY KEEPING YOUR TWO FINGERS TAUNT. SECTION OUT THE 2 INCHES BELOW THAT WAVE AND BETWEEN THE FIRST AND MIDDLE FINGER PINCH THE WAVE YOUVE ALREADY MADE PRIOR SO THE HAIR CURL IS VISABILE BETWEEN FINGERS HOLD THE TWO FINGERS LIKE THAT SO THE TIP OF THAT WAVE DOES NOT GET COMBED OUT OF THE SCULPTURE WAVE YOU JUST PUT IT IN, AND ONCE THE TWO FINGERS ARE TAUNT BEGIN TO COMB THE SECTIONED HAIR THE IOPPODSITE WAY COMBING DOWN , LIFT FINGERS YOU SHOULD HAVE A FINGERWAVE THIS IS THE SAME PATTERN YOULL FOLLOW THE REST OF THE HAIRSTYLE.

1} TWO FINGERS TOGETHER
2} FIRST AND MIDDLE FINGER ON THE CUSP OF WAVE YOU STARTED
3} FOLLOW THE PATTERN THROUGHOUT THE STYLE
4} MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT STYLE GEL.
HAIRS WET
GELS IN
YOUR SET TO GO
GEL SHOULD BE THE KIND SALONS ARE FAMILIAR WITH OR THE KIND THAT IS MADE FOR SCULPTING AND RETAINS A WET LOOK EVEN WHEN THE HAIR DRIES THE GEL IS A LITTLE CRISPY BUT SET INTO PLACE SO CURL IS SET.

HOPE THAT HELPED.

Thank you! But I am having trouble with the finger stuff, I wish I could see this being done.

I don't understand how the waves just stay there, do you have to dry them or pin them until they dry naturally?

Its easier than it seems. trust me. look at your hand , doesnt matter wich one . hold your hand in front of you. your first 2 fingers are all you use

lets ay this is a wave,{ S } just like you were to write an s, it starts far right ends far left , with two curves that go in opposing direexctions.

all you have to do is the two fingers make two movements on the head while you comb the hair in the opposite direction.

1} hold both finger together flat on the baseline parallel with the direction of wave{ the s senario would be the first left curve . as the s or curl continues and youve combed the hair in the opposite direction the next is done the same way, except,... leave the last part of wave between the two fingers so there is defined curl. that is why they call it fingerwaving. i will post a pic of the procedure, mind you the camera is cheap photos may be blurry.
