Bear's Quest
My mother In-law loves to tell a story about her close friend and how she got rid of her ant problem from her new home.

Her friend loves nature and does not like to hurt a fly and when she found her new place was infested with ants, you think she had to give in and call the exterminater. No, she stooped down and talked with the ants saying "I'm sorry ants but you got to go, this is my home now and I really would like if you left and never come back!"
And the story goes that tha ants left and never bothered her again and she never had to make that dreaded call for an exterminater.

Did the ants really listen to her?
Or did the ants moved on cause of other reasons?
Who knows?

Probably she doesn't eat much and is very tiddy, therefore the ants had nothing to eat.

Every year our apartment gets a couple ants walking through, they find nothing to eat and dissappear. The messy neighbor with the ton of kids has ants all over the place.

I'm not even sure ants can hear. At least the same way we do, anyway.

Who knows?

I work with a guy and one morning I saw him furiously ripping off a piece of duct tape from a roll. Of course, I had to ask him what in the world he was doing... "Killing ants!" And he proceeded to lay the tape sticky-side down and "get" all of those ants (okay, maybe four) that were around his keyboard and on the desk. It was so funny because he'd see another one and grab his piece of tape to "get" it. Poor little guys - I bet he didn't even ask them nicely to leave before he stuck it to them.

This is the absolute truth. I lost my solitaire from my engagment ring, which was a shame and I couldn't find it anywhere. I've had a really bad ant problem in my conservatory - flying ants, I've never seen anything like it in my life, we were infested, millions of the things. My son is severely autistic and I don't like putting pesticides around the house because he licks things and eats strange things and I know he'd get more of the pesticide than the ants. So my husband vaccumed them up, which is disgusting I know there were millions of them.

Then I was vacuuming the hallway and I though, oo what's that, sucked it up and realised it was my diamond. So here's the thing I've got a vaccum bag FULL of dead ants and inside there somewhere is my solitaire. disgust.gif

I've lived in quite a few apartments before and I have to say it might not be food related. We've used bugs sprays to bug bombs and it seems they know how and when to jump from one apartment to the next. In another apartment complex, we never experienced any ants or bugs and so If you live near an ant colony and you don't know where it is, they will disrupt your lives whether you a neat freak or not.

tongue.gif Haha I've never thought of using duct tape? I'm sure they're smart enough to move around once they see a few of them getting stuck.

I haven't looked yet. The bag is still there waiting for me to start my search, I'm sure it was the solitaire I sucked up... I need to get the kids back to school and sit outside to sort through.
