As I sit here doing my make-up and thinking, "I frickin' hate this...", I began to wonder if men really find make-up on women all that attractive. Or are we just doing this for no reason? Lol

Fortunately some women have that flawless complexion where they just need a little highlight...(I hate them

)...Myself, well it seems to take forever to look like I would like to, and even then I never do...I know my husband used to hate when I would get makeup on his shirts when we were dating..I guess it's up to what the guys prefer. It will be interesting to find out..Good Topic

I used to apply make-up when putting out the milk bottles, lest someone saw me

Now I don't wear any for work, but I do when I go out. I can't begin to describe just how heavenly it is not to have to do that every single morning lol.

I used to be a cosmetics fanatic! Wouldn,t even answer the door without a 3 hr. application session!

But i think i was just so insecure at that time and i really did feel naked without it. All the guys i knew or dated and even my hubby mostly just hated waiting for me to get ready to go out, and only a couple guys really complained that they hated all make up on women. But now i wear a lot less and i,m usually ready to go in 20 to 30 minutes! I still like to try and look my best when i go out, but i,m not O.C.D. anymore and i feel FREE!

Day to day, I don't really wear any make-up at all. Never really did.
Although if I'm going out to do something socially, I MIGHT throw on some mascara, maybe some blush if I'm looking a little tired. Mostly I just slap some lotion on my face and I'm good to go.
My only real fetish is my nails. I have long natural nails and I file and paint them up nicely at least twice a week. I gotta be a LITTLE girly. haha.

honestly ladies. you don't need it. it ruins your skin in the long run. and your loved ones see you at your worst and love you anyway , so who do you really wear it for ? each other I think.
as a lesbian , I hated when girlfriends of mine who did wear it wore it. it tastes horrible. I can't stand the feeling of lipstick on my lips and it's so , what's the word ............... stiff. it seems to make the lips stiffer so kissing is like a chore instead of a sensual slid . lol
so I agree with the guys.
nothing is as beautiful as a woman with a healthy glow. au natural. and not sun tanned to a crisp ( that's my personal taste - I like em pale n dark haired. not dead pale however. lol )

lol it's the fantasy I think. we all have a fantasy we think of but in reality the fantasy is nothing like it. have you ever see Pam Anderson as 'herself' ? ewwwww . she looks 50. pretty rough.
and the ones that prefer those types ? well we each have our individual tastes , but for some it's trophy , sometimes self esteem is so low that one needs that 'beauty' to make them feel bigger , better.
and lets get honest about those guys who chase after the Pamela Andersons in the world , most of them are not exactly winners. You know , Goober with missing teeth and a beer gut scratching his rear thinking someone who looks lke that will be interested in him ? lol it's the same kind of guy who is afraid of gay guys saying ' I don't want them makin' no pass at me ' lol . why would they ? gay men are good looking and tend to prefer good looking dude so you got nothing to worry about .
lol that kills me ! too funny.
And you have to look at the women who want to be like that . why can't we be happy with ourselves ?
also - when we get to really know someone we end up seeing how beautiful they are. Happens to me all the time. you find just how beautiful they are , really.

I have a suggestion if you're interested. Try using oil-blotting absorbent face sheets instead of powdering so often, I have oily skin also (slightly) and I found them and they are a better alternative, at least for me. They absorb all the oil without messing up your makeup at all. Too much powder can be cakey although you would still want to have an initial application of powder on top of your foundation when you first put it on. Also, I have started using powdered mineral foundation, and it's so much more natural looking and kills two birds with one stone for those of us with oily skin. I just wanted to share some things that work for me.

My wife comes from Europe and has lovely skin. In 23 yrs, have never seen her wear makeup. She pays special attention to her hair and dress.Wears ear rings, necklace, occassional perfume, and to me still looks wonderful.I also think women who have plastic surgery, just to please their spouses need a reality check.I say grow old gracefully. To me a woman should look the best they can, without all of the crap plastered on their faces.Cannot be healthy for a womans skin when it can't breathe properly.Just my thoughts.

Lets put it this way, I was 11 when i started wearing make up and by 13 i was one of those girls REBEL was talking about that needed a jack hammer and a chisel to get it off! But i wore it like that for 3 reasons #1) I was so insecure about my looks #2) It got me into the bars at 13 and #3) I didn,t have anyone to teach me how to put it on right! Thank God i learned how to apply it propper and way less! I wasn,t quite Tammy Faye, but i came to dang close! Now the way i wear it is more natural and some people have actually thought i,m not wearing any when i have on what i call my whole face! So i,m much better and when i see pretty young girls doing what i used to do i wish i could tell them how later in life they are going to laugh at how silly it is, and cry about all the time and money they wasted! But i know they won,t listen to me, because i never listened at that age either! Ahh, live and learn for some thats the best teacher!

I don't at all, but I'm attracted to very natural looking women, however if it is used I like it used sparingly and tastefully. Think classical as opposed to contemporary, which si ironic since I like attitudes towards gender roles in women to be the exact opposite.

I'd agree with that. If a girl feels more comfortable with just a tad here and there, I don't mind. But all of the eye stuff and when a girls face color is completely different that the skin right under the jaw or on the neck is not attractive. I understand the eye stuff when going out or something but not everyday. I like the natural look. I don't want a girl that only feels comfortable with herself if she is wearing a mask.

I've also got my makeup down to 5 minutes in the morning. I'm pretty washed out without it. I don't wear it on weekends or at home, just when going to work or church or to eat in a restaurant. I use a foundation, a bit of blush, lipstick and light mascara on a normal, going-out day.
Makeup has come a long way, baby. The mineral foundations out there are light and very natural looking, while still covering up those zits and discolorations. It's quick and easy to apply, too, and it usually stays where you put it.
I prefer the natural look, but I do like lipstick/gloss. I HATE dry lips--I always have to have something on them to moisturize them.
I wish I was one of those women with perfect skin; but alas, the zit moster still has me in my 40's. It's that oily skin I inherited from my father. Not to mention those pesky hormones!
I have a girlfriend whose husband won't let her go without her makeup, even if they are just staying home. And she's a pretty girl, too! What a b*st*rd.

In my opinion, some people look good in it, some don't, if you are going out with a real man, he will see the beauty you have and ask you why you even bother with make up, and if you are out to impress go for it, but natural beauty is what really gets them, not make up.
I like make up, but not touch up make up, I like wearing yellow eye-line, and weird eye-shadows for the fun of it. But I usually am too busy in the morning to do that, so I almost never bother with the stuff, it's a pain in the butt, it stays on forever unless you want it to stay on and then it comes off, it fills your pores, causes acne and smudges, I don't think it's worth the time. It's so much easier to live natural.
I think most women put on make-up, more for themselves than those around them. (like a security blanket I guess.
