OK, that spider is really cute! I could see it starring in a cartoon. I also love bats. We found one on our garage once, and it was so bloody cute! I had a friend who had a pet skunk, and it was the most loving animal I had ever been around.

Some people really hate rats and think they are "creepy" yet. My sister had one that was the cutest and most loving animal! It would crawl around mys houlders and hide under my hair and kiss my neck. It was a very sad day when it died, we both bawled our eyes out. I never would have thought I would like an animal like that, but I ended up really loving it...and just because I think the spider is cute, doesn't mean I would want one in my house. LOL

Spiders are bad. Very bad. ph34r.gif Scorpions are bad.
Bugs in general are bad.

tongue.gif

Snakes, wild cats, bears, and wolves are good.

Bats are ok... so long as they're not flying around my living room. dontgetit.gif

i have a pet bird eating spider, 2 snakes, bearded dragons, scorpions, turtles, rats, a pihrana and the latest addition..... a crow (he is taxidermied though fell dead in my backyard) i have a major MAJOR problem with grasshoppers and maggots
LittleIrishVampiress
rats for me. i was obsessed with rats as a child. i'd insist on having all these plastic rat toys (for some reason they didn't have cuddly teddies?! tongue.gif ) to the great distress of my older female relatives! laugh.gif
and i adore mice!! ahhh! those twitchy little furry noses!! wub.gif wub.gif
Episteme
I like them all with the exception of biting bugs (mostly just horseflies and misquitoes), and those tiny jumping spiders that always seem to jump right at you when you least expect it. disgust.gif

I saw a really cool moth in my yard the other day, a hummingbird moth as it turns out... maybe the "clearwing" variety? It was huge! And moved just like a hummingbird. Probably the coolest bug I've ever seen! grin2.gif

I like spiders, I don't like snakes mainly because we have deadly ones in our yard and I've paid enough in pet bills.

Leeches and ticks that burrow partly into you are the worse.
REBEL
Missed this thread but as i posted in the other, i have this thing for snakes.
The more aggressive deadlier and vicious the better. It's the fear-factor/adrenaline-pumping thing that gets me going every time we spot them.
Always wanted a Western or King Brown for a pet...handled with extreme caution of course. lol!

Have you seen the movie "The Birds"? (I love this movie)

linked-image

Speaking of movies, "Kingdom of the spiders". When I was about 8 yrs old I watched that. That night I had a nightmare where I was lying in bed and very tiny Daddy long legs came through the walls and covered the floor, then bigger daddy long legs came in on top of them, and so on, until one with a head twice as big as a basketball came in. He got on my bed and came toward me gnashing his teeth. I woke in hysterics. I still completely lose it to this day if a daddy long legs comes near me. crying.gif
MissMelsWell
I don't think many animals bother me, if any. Not even spiders. We have monsterous wood spiders around here, you can hear them sneaking up on ya. I just let them pass through the house and wave as they go by.

My thing is birds and dogs (I really love birds)... it's amazing how many people were nothing short of terrified of my larger parrots. My sweet lovable blue and gold macaw reduced a co-worker of mine to tears every time she saw him. I've never seen someone so frightened of an animal in all my life. Worse for her, he LOVED blondes and she was a natural platinum blonde. He'd wolf whistle at her, call her pretty, make lude "mmmm" noises at her. haha Not even his charming, flirty antics could alleviate her terror.

It was amazing.

Awww, MissMelsWell, a bird? I can see waiting until they know they're not going to rip their fingers off with those sharp beaks to interact, but wow! Such irrational fears people have... not that I can talk, I hate feet. I don't get people that are afraid of dogs, even dogs they know are friendly, quiet and calm. I couldn't imagine a lifetime of not playing with pooches!

linked-image
MissMelsWell
Actually I don't think it was his beak (which was formidable) that scared her... She would actually start to shreik and run when he flapped his wings or threw his wings out to steady or balance himself. She claims that she has this irrational fear of a bird getting tangled in her hair. Totally bizarre.

I love bats and spiders, snakes and lizards. My exwife had an irrational fear of moths, I never understood, whats more harmless than a moth? Unless your made of 100% cotton. Personally I have a phobia of roaches, once when I was a kid I was bitten and it got infected bad, but besides that no real fear of animals.
raoulduke666
brown recluses scare the crap out of me...just cause what their bites can turn into

linked-image
She-ra
We have brown recluse spiders here. If you get bitten the bite turns black and it like eats your skin. It's nasty I saw a guy in the ER once who got bit on his nostril... the whole thing was falling freaking off... he had to get plastic surgery to re-create his nostril. yes.gif very nasty little buggers!! ((Oh year we have to check our shoes before we put them on because they like to hide there)). NEAT!

Ummm, I wouldn't say it's normal, but it can happen. Sometimes parrots get really attached to a certain look of a person. My big guy had a real thing for blonde women.

If I had to guess, he probably wasn't trying to keep people away from you in particular, but he was trying to keep people from his "perch" aka, your shoulder... probably made worse by the fact that you're tall. Parrots, especially the big ones can be SUPER territorial and it's their natural instinct to perch on and "own" the tallest perch in the room... they'll fight for it too.

I never let any of my birds perch on my shoulder, they were always held on my forearm at chest height, no way was I going to allow a bird with a 3' wingspan sit on my shoulder then decide at some point that my HEAD was on his perch. hahaha. Which actually happened to my daughter with one of our birds, it was not good. He took a chunk out of her cheek trying to claim his perch.

hahahaha, the best way to tell if a parrot loves you is if they "crop up" on ya... basically, they'll regurgitate from their crop then paste that gack on you someplace. Being barfed on by a bird is a sign of undying love. hahaha. Nice huh? laugh.gif

HAHAHA!!! Too funny! I don't blame you about the roaches though, good reason and they're pretty filthy anyway. When I used to work at a computer repair shop we'd get computers in that were DOA and the owners couldn't figure out why. I'd open them up and find tons of dead roaches.. and sometimes some live ones. The pooey can really do some damage to a motherboard. Worse yet, sometimes they'd be sitting there a few days before I'd get to them and realize what the problem was. Needless to say, they treated the building regularly.

And of course most people know that actual real bugs in computers are how the term "bug" came about in the computer industry. They can totally fubar the hardware. Of course now, it's mostly software that the term is applied to, bad hardware is just defective these days, not "buggy". haha. tongue.gif

but I have reason to hate bugs as I'm allergic to nearly all of them. (like even the tiny hairs of a caterpillar) crying.gif

I am afraid of dogs. I didn't used to be but one day a seemingly nice German Shepard tried to take my leg off. Before that I loved dogs (still do just from a distance) and had had a few of my own. Ugh... Yeah, normally I wouldn't do anything but put them outside and wash my hands a lot. I heard one story of my boss (one of the kindest men I know) getting mad after walking in and seeing dozens of roaches crawling out of one machine. He actually picked it up and physically chucked it out the door. He got it about 12 feet, it landed in the mulch. laugh.gif

Wow, that really stinks. I couldn't imagine, everyone in my family has dogs, most of my friends have dogs. Yeah, I would even consider some sort of behavioral training or therapy or something, but first it would be hard to find and second it would cost a fortune... like health insurance would pay for something like that! no.gif

MissMelsWell
Yep, it does... although, some people say that the term goes back as far Edison. Primarily in computers, the term actually has a single event of a moth in a computer:

Bug — a fault in a computer program which prevents it from working correctly.
The term is often (but erroneously) credited to Grace Hopper. In 1946, she joined the Harvard Faculty at the Computation Laboratory where she traced an error in the Harvard Mark II to a moth trapped in a relay. This bug was carefully removed and taped to the log book.
