OK, i am fanatical about vampires.... so i wanna know who your fave vampire is and why? Can be from a movie, book or whatever you like.

here's mine.... http://www.stuarttownsend.org/leopard.jpg

i just think he is simply gorgeous!!! wub.gif and a very talented actor as well.
ThankPunt
I liked the character in "Blade" who had his fangs extracted by Deacon Frost. Creating such an intimidating package from a man portrayed as being rather effeminate is not easy to accomplish. Kudos to the actor, whatever his name is. His ability to avoid laughing during filming of "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" spoke well of the commitment to his craft.

My grandfather's middle name was Dicon (Same pronunciation), so that could be one of many latent reasons why the film spoke to me. The personified balancing act in the food chain paralleling viral pestilence is rather ingenious in my humble opinion.

yes i enjoyed the blade series as well... but as to the character you are mentioning his name is on the tip of my tongue lol but i thought he played a very weak vampire.... he ws sopposed to be a "pure blood" but didn't stand up for himself at all? if that was me, pure blood or not.... i would have been making quite the fuss if someone was trying to kidnap me..... there would be some very sore vampires before i got fried......

I see your point, IM, though my interpretation is different. The character was not meant to appear weak, but confident that his apparent human form did not represent who he really was. Remember him telling Frost that his unpopular choices weren't going to make any difference? Vampires are nearly immortal with some vulnerabilities, and the character's decision not to put up a fight pointed to worldly detachment. I forget how many councilmen remained after the sacrifice occurred. Was it 12?

yes i think it was 12..... but frost took over anyway, which leads me to another thing... the council were all pure bloods, i understand that they may have been "afraid" of frost to some point but they even didnt drive him out...... or even stand up for them selves when he took them for the "blood god ritual" i see your point as well but i think they should have and probably would have stood up for them selves. Ancient vampires who have spent their "undead" lives to stay alive are not just gonna give a few growls, bare their teeth and be done with hahaha oh.... i also liked that vampire who kept getting his arm chopped off laugh.gif he was funny as hell... i cant remember his name either.....

The vampires' wish for concealment despite their man-eating nature represents the feminine quality that is dominant in most people, whether they accept it or not. Since people represent food to vampires, and even mortal men hunt/gather to survive, their act of "murder" is survival, and by no means rooted in baseless aggression.

Frost's aggressiveness and desire for control represents the Lucifer persona. It's the masculine, controlling, dominating nature that few truly embrace in society, because we'd be looking for fights rather than avoiding them if we didn't cling to the feminine. Remember that Frost exposed what the councilmen wished to have kept private. Frost declared war on man, whereas the council had under-the-table contracts with police, politicians, etc. Frost dismantled their hierarchy and structure via his rebellion, so the remaining councilmen saw no reason to remain in a world where Frost's desire for "freedom" trampled their controlled approach to what little freedom they retained.

Excellent! Consider the hierarchy that the councilmen represented within our lives, and the corruption that arose from it. Frost was their unappreciated friend, not their enemy. He saved them from the controls that they imposed upon themselves by ending their "lives". grin2.gif His sacrifice had meaning, while that of the de-fanged head councilmen meant nothing by his own admission.

As you can probably tell by my ID, Pandora from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles is my favorite. But, I do love how Townsend played Lestat. He's so HOT!! Looooooooove when he's onstage singing and taunting the other vampires to come and get him, mmmmm he's so sexy in that scene.

I don't know if he's my favorite, but I'm very partial to Frank Langella's portrayal of Dracula in 1979.

Has anyone even read the Cirque du Freak series? It's The Saga of Darren Shan in the UK. I like most of the vampires in that. Larten Crepsley has his perks, Gavner's hilarious on the trek to Vampire Mountain (his funky boxers were exposed- pink with stitched on elephants!) and Darren himself is the star.

I saw the movie (queen of the damned) before i read the book, when i read the book I was a little disappointed in the movie, dont get me wrong i think the movie is bloody fantastic but khayman, pandora, louii and armand didnt have much of a part, i totally LOVED marius in the movie tho, so much so that i named my rat after him lol but IMO i think aaliyah did an ok job, but i think someone like angelina jolie would have been able to carry the role better. I agree that stuart townsend plays a better lestat in QOTD but for interview of the vampire cruize was more siuted, i also like that insane femle vampire in the third blade movie lol she cracked me up laugh.gif and so did that wrestler HHH in the same movie lmao over all i liked the whole smart-assness in the entire movie, oh... but who can forget the HOT HOT HOT dracula in blade 3?

Oh yeah, I loved Marius in QotD grin2.gif But I had to separate the character from the movie and the character from the novels to enjoy him more...they're really nothing alike. I also think Townsend did a waaaay better job at Lestat than Cruise. Overall I loved the movie, I just wish they'd gone for an original idea instead of trying to make a movie adaptation of the books.

The "Hello, David." at the end of the movie was classic btw grin2.gif

Damn, now you've made me want to go watch it.

OOOH thought of another favourite!

I can't stand Stuart Townsend in anything, and he always plays the same character. Was just waiting for him to die in League of Extrodinary Gentlemen. And he was killed by a vampire tongue.gif

My favorite vampire character is Selene from Underworld, so hot, haha. Deacon Frost is a badass, and so is the head vampire from the Forsaken.

I had read all the novels before "Queen" came out. I was SOOOOOOO ticked off at the movie. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the movie. Hell, I own it. But, they totally screwed up the whole story line. You have to love the books and love the movie as separate things. If you think to hard on all the discrepancies, you'll get mad.

In the movie they have Marius as Lestat's creator and "teaching" him everthing about being a vampire!! WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! Magnus created Lestat and immediately upon turning Lestat into a vampire, Magnus walks into a fire and incinerates himself. It may not seem that important to people who haven't read the books, but the very reason WHY Lestat is portrayed as being cruel and heartless to Louis is that HE WAS NEVER TAUGHT ANYTHING about what he was turned into. Louis thought it was just to be cruel, but Lestat never taught him anything because he didn't know anything. He only dangled Louis along because he didn't want to be alone. He knew if he told Louis that, he wouldn't hang around any longer.

i agree pandora, the movie QOTD seemed to create its own story line. I don't think any of the characters in the movie were portrayed in the way they were meant to be. But oh well... when has hollywood ever made a movie that was just like the book? I must have seen QOTD about 50million times.... (slight exaggeration but you get the idea hahahaha)

That one I only watched once, I was quite disappointed with it. But, Vampires, The Forsaken, Lost Boys, Blade Trinity (Ryan Reynolds-rowr!), Underworld, Dracula 2000 they are ones I can watch over and over.

And as to favorite vampiers, hee hee

But also you have to remember that Louis is a drama queen. Interview with the Vampire was Louis' highly biased interpretation of the events.

PS. I love the movie too...and own it...but it really pissed me off when I first saw it.
