For me its,

"Its not that big of a deal. Don't let fear stop you from doing things"

The other is

"Sex is so much more worthwhile and meaningful when you do it with someone you are married to. The sex does get much much better than you could possibly imagine. So don't waste it on the potential of unwanted pregnancy with the wrong partner or disease."

Oh wow would that ever be a long list! But i agree with what you said True! And i,d add to not wreck your health with drugs and booze! It does come back to bite you in the "A" and all those accidents from driving too fast and with drunks will cause painfull injuries that will keep you from enjoying lifes better adventures! Believe me i know, but learned too late to fix it!

Although I'm still very young and hardly qualify to answer this post, I hope those younger than me understand how important school is. I regret it still today for not taking school as seriously as I should have, even though I did make decent grades my last two years.

It's not as cool as you think it is to drink with your friends on the weekend, hiding from your parents.

Don't lie. You may think you got away with it, but they just let you think that. And if they do buy into it, you'll just tell them about it years later down the road. "Hey, do you remember that time I said I was studying?"

Learn the value of a dollar! I used to buy some of the most unbelievable crap with my allowance money. Once I started working and paying bills...fun is no longer required to make you happy, but making sure you don't forget to pay your water bill on time so you don't have to heat water on the stove to take a bath wacko.gif .

I'm still fairly young, but I'd probably throw "Be original, make your own mark on this world, not repeat other's." out there.
Lt_Ripley
Respect . for themselves and others. It seems to be sorely lacking.

that instant gratification in any area is usually fleeting. ( and usually comes with a high price down the line) . We have become a I want it now society. we have no patience. and not getting what we want when we want it makes us angry.

money shouldn't be your first concern. it makes us selfish and greedy. In life or work. put your love of it first. When you do you find money comes , sometimes as it's needed , but it will come.

that we do get everything we ask for - just not all at once or the same time.

and life doesn't always work out as we planned it. it rarely does.

Eighty percent of success is showing up.

Get everything done before it's too late. See the world! You may not get the opportunity to do it later on in life.

Get it done while you're young.

Kids.

Stop being losers.

Your not gangsters, your living in the suburbs with comfortable homes and loving families.

You have nothing to fight for, no one thinks your cool everytime you "brag" about how you totally kicked that guys ass.
Really? Was it a fight when you brought the rest of your loser friends as "backup".

You really think "the big kids" with their cool "gangs" and "drug dealing" is the best you can do? Get a freaking education.

=======================

I'll never push my 2 boys to do anything against their will.
Making mistakes in life are just as important as their success but if only to 'listen to my advice on key issues...

The advice my father and grandfather gave me growing up...

Respect everyone including the elderly, they've been there done that so don't be a smart ass, ALWAYS keep in mind you'll be there too one day, above all, self respect....(try lay off them drugs kiddies)
Try stay focused on achieving your goals in life, let no one side track you.
Don't rely on others too much in life(that only breeds laziness)go out there do it yourself.
Try help others as much as possible whenever possible, those that deserve it anyways, don't be selfish. (what goes round comes round)
If you can't afford it, simple...DON'T BUY IT (always spend wisely, them time$ ahead are only going to get tougher)
Try to wear a condom no matter how hot/gorgeous she is. (get her pregnant i'll shoot you)

Just a few off the top of my head...

Sorry i havnt got anything to offer but an oppinion on the matter...i think that alot of this advice is stuff that we could all do with listening to and not just the young generation...actually, i think listening itself is an extremely valuable quality which all people should try to aspire to....yeah...bit off topic i know...sensitive subject blush.gif

I would talk to them about tolerance and patience. They're too quick to make judgments and don't understand tolerance outside of their own social circles. Either your in or your not worth nothing.

Nice thread tt. Off the top of my head I would say...

Education first, there is loads of time to have fun.

Don't expect anything, that way you won't be disappointed.

Treat everyone you meet the way you would want to be treated.

Plan for the future but remember to live for the moment.

Be true to yourself.

You can't expect someone to fall in love you if you don't, first and foremost, love yourself.

You can't change a person.

You are far more brave walking away from a potential fight than getting involved.

I would have to say the following.

l. Respect, it's such an important way of life.

2. Stay in school...it may seem so unrewarding now, but you'll be thankful that you did.

3. Always keep the morals and values that you were taught close at heart...

4. Follow your dream...You may feel that it is never going to happen, but if you pursue it, then it will happen.

5. Never give up...What may seem impossible now, is always possible in the future.

6. Live your life to the fullest...
RabidCat
Never limit yourself by saying "I can't....", no matter what the "experts" say. You'll find a way.

Don't just ignore that "old" person's comments and stories: some day, you'll regret doing so, as I have. There is truth to the statement "Live and Learn".

Be considerate of others: one day, you'll find that such things as driving down the street with hundreds of watts of boom is not a primary focus of life, and the irritation of others will come back to bite you.

Don't take the words of "experts" as biblical: all the experts do is parrot the words of other experts. Find your own way.

Know that you are not the only person on earth. Have patience. Care about yourself, but care about others too.

Always remember the words "I can".

They're not listening, we all have to make are own mistakes, make sure you have a good friend, someone who will look out for you no matter what.

I'd tell the rest of people my age to back off of the illegal crap. It's illegal for a reason! Just the other day, I heard someone on the bus talking about getting some smokes. Dunno what kind of smokes.... But that told me to stay away.
Lotus Flower
Stay off the drugs and steer clear of dweebs that say "your eyes shine like the stars" - they are only after one thing.

Oh yes and those freaking jeans they wear half way down their thighs - those too, steer clear, it is bad news on a chilly night wink2.gif

REBEL
Yes, try as best you can to avoid illicit drugs...they may bring you joy short term but long term they destroy.
You'll never know what toxic crap they put in it to get you hook line and sinker.

err, them Hipster Jeans(skin tights)...i think they look oh so good on women, especially when they strut.
InHuman
Yeah drugs, stay away from those too.....

And dont be hating on those jeans, I as a man have nothing against them..
when.i.am.queen.
Hmmm....In all my years of wisdom, I would say that the most important thing that I have learned is

If it doesn't stay up by itself, don't wear it.

This can be applied to just about anything.

Other helpful things I would like to impart on the next generation would be a ) that while skinny jeans can look good, they shouldn't be that tight, and b ) if they promise you that they won't laugh, they are laughing on the inside.

Well, I'm 19, so I believe I'm still part of the younger generation, but I'd say don't listen to anyone. Do what you want. You have one life, live it! Live hard, live fast. Do what you will. Rules are made to be broken.

Well said 1111111... <--- did i get that right? lol!

For those out there that maybe taking dangerous illicit(street)drugs, hey knock yourselves out for all i care, live the fast life in the fast lane. Thats your life your choice. I've seen it all before with people who ''think'' they're in control(classic yet boring & sad all in one)only to see them 'thrash/burn'(thats not dead btw)themselves out well before their time both mentally and physically(prematurely aged)either ending up in a psychiatric hospital or practically in the gutter.

Just a little info(side effects short and long term)on one of many of the more hardcore of the illicit drugs, imo probably the worst one out...

=======================================================

extracts only:

How is Crystal Meth Manufactured?
Crystal meth is "cooked" in labs that spring up in abandoned homes, warehouses, and kitchens in neighborhoods across the country. Household chemicals and solvents purchased in grocery and hardware stores, over the counter medications such as pseudophed, and ordinary items such as pots and pans are used to manufacture this killer. When these ordinary ingredients are combined the result is a deadly form of amphetamine...crystal meth...and toxic by-products that contaminate the air, can cause illness and death, and are highly volatile, often exploding without warning.

What are the Hazards of Crystal Meth?

Crystal meth is an addictive killer; that much is known. But what makes it so dangerous?
Dangerous Physical Effects - In low doses, crystal meth heightens the senses and makes the users more alert. In higher doses, the drug causes exhilaration and euphoria. If used in even higher doses, heart rate increases, body temperature can rise to very dangerous levels, and the user can become paranoid, agitated and exhibit very bizarre and risky behavior. It's at these high doses that overdose and death occur.

Addiction - Some experts say that it is impossible not to become addicted to crystal meth. Some studies have shown that 9 out of 10 people who inject crystal meth just once will become addicted. While those who smoke crystal meth take longer to become addicted , most do and eventually progress to injecting meth.

Withdrawal - Prolonged use and addiction to crystal meth slowly "burns out" the pleasure senses. The body produces two substances, dopamine and norepinephrine, to stimulate the body. Crystal meth eventually burns out the system that produces these important chemicals. After this occurs, the body can no longer produce the chemicals that stimulate the pleasure senses.((((*Burn out kiddies*))))

Take care...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IF you smoke that is one thing, if you drink that is another. IF you chose to keep the beauty of your skin. That is entirely up to you whether you smoke or drink, that may someday matirealize as a deterioration of skin mass, on your face and your bodily features, by the time your 34. Believe it, I count the wrinkles in my forehead.

For me its very simple: before destroying or abolishing an object, custom or institution, learn the reason why it was created in the first place.

Kazahel
1. That YOU are everything that IAM, and IAM everything that YOU are.

2. Try not to speak words that are meant to hurt others.

3. And remember that we all learn in time.

My advice:

DO NOT EVER DO ILLEGAL OR NON-PRESCRIBED -TO YOU - DRUGS.

I live with an "on-and-off" recovering alcoholic/drug addict; therefore I think I know a tad more than maybe the average person on this subject (outside of a doctor). I will relay to you what I have learned:

•Do you realize if you smoke crack ONE TIME; you can become addicted?
•Do you know that the crap you buy on the streets (cocaine) has been stept on so many times (added other ingedients to make it seem like more (quantity-wise) with IE: laundry soap, ajax, baking soda, baking powder; speed -whatever they come up with) to make a higher profit margin off of YOU? Why not just sniff/smoke laundry detergent? Same thing.
•Do you realize eveytime you do any illegal drug you literally KILL BRAIN CELLS THAT WILL NEVER RETURN? Yep, every toke; every bong hit; KILLING brain cells. Lovely...isn't it?
•Do you know you can do exctasy once, just one time, and immediately die? Yeah, look it up, MANY HAVE.
•Meth - oh this stuff is SO BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD....NEVER EVER DO THAT...EVER. You might as well devote yourself to starvation, permanent "caffeine-type shakes", where you're next hit's gonna come from-type attitude... stealing money to pay for your incredibly easy addiction...and then getting off it or tying to sober up? Have FUN!! Have fun pulling WAD's of hair of our year head since you loose your hair original.gif.
•Heroine? Yea, have you ever seen a heroine addict? Have you looked at their teeth? They probably have none... it rots your teeth from the inside out, literally out of your mouth! Gone...bye-bye teeth... SO attractive! Yea, that's something to be proud of!
•PCP - also called "green"... do you know doing this drug puts you into such a hallucinated trance that you think you can do ANYTHING??...like, for example, stop a moving car or FLY out of the 12th floor of a building and survive? Dumb A$$. Oh yea, and if you get caught by the law; you'll probably get shot to death since you think you're so invincible.
•Acid- Totally can kill you or cause yourself to be killed. You Do Not EVER WANT TO EXPERIENCE A BAD ACID TRIP. Oh yea, and then you forever live with "flashbacks"...NICE baggage.

•••Illegal Drugs do nothing but screw with your brain chemistry. Yea, they screw up and cause neuron's to misfire, KILL (yea, like NO MORE - GONE) Brain cells (yes it rettardds your brain), and all for what? So, you can end up with an IQ of 42? Smart move. Drugs also totaly mess with your limbic system in your brain...and it messes it up SO much you don't know WHAT is going to end up happening!!
Please, scientists, doctors and other people on here...ADD TO WHAT DRUGS DO TO YOUR BRAIN!! I always think of watching an egg fry...that's what drugs do to your brain...FRY IT!

•••Oh yes, and the innocent pot. I laugh at your ignorance. That high starts to need more and more to get the same high (as your body becomes tolerant) and you need more and more UNTIL..... you need to add something else or move to another drug to maintain your "new and higher" level of high. Pot is a "stepping-stone" drug to the harder ones. Oh it's so innocent....B*LLSH*T. It's NOT. It's the BEGINNING OF THE END!!!

What would made someone consider such BAD CHOICES?

•to look cool?
•give into peer pressure?
•to kill yourself? You won't you'll just screw yourself up MORE!!!!
•for a fun quick high?
•so you can just forget things or pain? LMAO...They come BACK!!!!!! And then you're blessed with the GUILT of doing the damn drugs AND still remembering and being in pain.
•so you can be a big shot with everyone? Hey, if you have to ACT like a Big Shot; you're obviously a loser and much need of therapy and self-actualization/realization.

When it comes to drinking alcohol, which also can majorly screw up your body if not in moderation, by an over 21 (or whatever your legal drinking age is) is a choice. Moderation is KEY. Do Not EVER DRINK AND THEN DRIVE....EVER. This is the choice of the adult NOT OF A CHILD or TEENAGER...and for a REASON!!

AND WHAT, out of all of this is the FIRST thing to go??? Rational thinking, responsibility, reasoning... yea, you end up doing things YOU NEVER WOULD DO IF YOU WERE IN A SOBER STATE!! And, funny thing, YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER YOU DO. Whether it's getting someone pregnant, killing a person, vehicular manslaughter, fighting with your most loved ones, hitting people you don't mean to hit, raping someone or being raped, oh I could go on but I think my point has been made.

Ya know, I love all you people on here; young and old. And even though you think I look young, I am quite old (someone mentioned 19 a bit ago, honey thanks but just about DOUBLE that) I have kids your age... just turned 16 and jus turned 12.

If anyone has something they need to discuss (or advice from an adult) please feel free to PM me. I shoot straight from the hip...and I understand and don't yell.

Plus, I have and still do live it EVERY SINGLE DAY. PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU FALL INTO THIS VICIOUS CIRCLE AND UGLY TRAP!!!

Much love and respect, Jody ♥

Thats all we can do is give whoever 'advice'.

I used to smoke grass for about 5-7yrs, i know no big deal but thats it, finished gone done with(about 10-15yrs now)
I never looked back having no intentions to hit rock-bottom like so many others i know and seen slowly but surely hit the harder stuff sending their lives into a downward tailspin.

I guess i'm a three strikes your out type bloke.(ahhh crap, who am i kidd'n, i lie i'm just a friggin softy) lol!
I'll stick out my hands open my arms and help family/friends if i have to but you want to screw up your life...go for it, good luck and may the great spirit bless, but don't whinge and whine later down the track when your life spirals into that dark abyss taking your family/loved ones with you along the way blaming them and society for all your problems which you alone created. If you make that all important conscious choice/decision don't let ANYONE sway it for you, otherwise piss them off asap. Try never to put yourself down, society is already full of problems and insensitive careless people more than eager and willing to do that for you, hold your head high move forward and enjoy life. 'Take life slow and easy' though, thats the key imo(story of the hare & the tortoise always comes to mind)...just a little bit more advice, take it or leave it thumbsup.gif

again take good care out there guys...
