Full Version: The Way That I Feel About The Beatles

I know that I am posting this in the general section, but I only want this message to reach as many people as possible. I felt an urgency to post this because it would mean so much to me for someone to hear me out. Words alone could never describe the unconditional love that I have for every member of the Beatles, and so I tried my hardest to articulate the words that describe my life-long love affair with the Beatles and their music. I hope that I'm not the only one out there who feels the way that I do. Here goes nothing:

I have always held an unwavering love of the Beatles burning in my heart for as long as I can remember, notably since I was in diapers. I have never been able to express to my friends or family or anyone else for that matter, the love that I possess for the Beatles. They have made such a great impact on my life because of the truely remarkable way that they have been able to withstand the test of time, remain a timeless favorite on the list of anyone's favorite bands, and most importantly of all, they have aquired the supreme talent of being able to hold my attention span infinitely, whereas a lot of things in my life don't. I hold them in such a degree of endearment, that sometimes when I find a vulnerable moment I only feel an urge to have a good cry for the sheer gratitude I have for the simple fact that the Beatles were ever created and exist. They were so ground-breaking and innnovative during their prime and certainly continue to hold such a title to this day; no musical artist furthermore has ever been able to come close to the sacred talent of the beauty that is the Beatles.

I believe that the reason that they have touched and affected so many people worldwide such as myself, is because people who have been avid listeners of the Beatles, perhaps since the beginning of Beatlemania or maybe late bloomers who weren't lucky enough to have been alive during such an era [again, like myself] have LIVED WITH THEM through the music and events surrounding the timeframe that the Beatles' hayday was in. When I think of the Beatles personally, I almost value them in the same sense that you would a close friend or relative. And every time that I should tune in and kick back to one of their classic songs, I catch a wave of nostalgia and revel in the feelings of adoration for them that shroud the recesses of my mind, and perhaps even catch a tear at the corner of my eye.

So you like them?

I like the Beatles, but not to the extent of labelling it a 'love affair'. Their music has been a part of my life since I was a young kid and continues to be.....just like any other artist/band I call 'favs'.

I agree they were great! I grew up listening to them, but there are so many great artists out there, come and gone and still around! I could never pick one all time favorite band anymore than i could pick a one and only favorite song! Depends on the mood i,m in, and whats going on in my life, but generally i have a love of all sorts of music and very little that i don,t like, and only one or two that i just can,t stand to hear ever!

I remember the first time I saw the Beatles on tv...I liked their music and loved their look, so different...Bought their albums, but didn't have a fixation with them...At that time alot of new groups from England were also making their debut here in the U.S...When I do hear one of their songs now it brings back memories...But my all time favorite group was "Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons".
I saw "Jersey Boys" in January and it was one of the best....Just thought I'd throw that in.... grin2.gif

I really enjoyed reading your post.....and I agree.

The creative genius of their music....mainly due to the song writing talents of Lennon and McCartney...
has touched so many people for so long....especially those of us who grew up during the Beatle era.

The different stages they went through in the sixties and seventies....as a 'group'...as they were called then.
Then the split...and them doing their own thing.

The utter shock when John Lennon was shot dead in New York.

What they did was a mixture of music, poetry and art.

They were/are unique.

I gotta say, I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles. BUT before you all get out your heat seeking missiles, hear me out. I think they were much, much better when they got into their psychedelic phase. God yes.

Whatever I feel, it's always cool to see someone so passionate about music grin2.gif
Pelican_Eel
oh I understand how you feel, Indigo Child crying.gif laugh.gif At the moment, maybe, I'm not so passionate as you, but the Beatles definitely were a huge part of my life, and I still am and always be under influence of them... I love Beatles. They are great, all four of them, not only Lennon/McCartney... When I was younger, I had three friends and we all loved Beatles, so everyone of us had "our own beatle" tongue.gif . I was Ringo... laugh.gif
But, no matter how I love their music, I must say I usually skip the songs like Yesterday, Yellow Submarine, All You Need is Love. They're good songs, but it just annoys me when people associate Beatles only with these songs... Beatles is a "vast thing"... it's Revolution 9, and Wild Honey Pie, and Blue Jay Way also... I love their psychodelic phase. I don't have one favourite song, but the song kinda associated with myself is "I am the Walrus", oooh yeaaah....

I love 50's and 60's music and growing up in the 70's made me feel like I missed out on an era. Even today the beatle's songs give you that good feeling as if you lived it with them but thats as close I can get.

I love EVERY creative outlet of their career including every one of their solo careers, AND Wings [Paul's successor post-Beatles band].

And to Justejust, I TOTALLY and completely agree with you about how it's annoying when people only associate the Beatles with their earlier, pop songs. While I ADORE their pop songs just the same, there was SO much more to them than when they started out from humble beginnings with their identical Beatle-haircuts. ;] The psychedelic phase was one of their most creative stints, as was their later songs up until their unfortunate breakup. =/ I wish that I could find a CD with every single one of their songs EVER recorded on it, including all of their songs from their solo careers. I love them dearly! Need I say more? ;D

Thanks so much for the feedback guys, I LOVE to hear about other people's opinions about them and how they have affected other people's lives as well; it intrigues me and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ;] It feels like we're all sharing stories and memories as though we all experienced it with them together. And in a sense, we did.

Anyone know if they'll be at the Liverpool European Capital of Culture event for sure next year?

Every band after the Beatles has imitated them in some way. They were so innovative in the arrangements and productions of their music. You cannot not like the Beatles, IMO.

I hear that the Beatles show called LOVE in Las Vegas is AMAZING. I have heard radio and TV reference it alot and that it is a can't miss performance. Anyone here seen it?

I love the beatles, shame they were long before my time...........but hey!

Please Explain
No more Beatles for me !
It always cracked my jaw singing 5 songs of them straight.

I don't think anyone can deny the brilliance of The Beatles. They have influenced so many great bands that have and still do exist (as in actively play and release etc).

Although I aren't as passionate about them as the OP. I listened to The Beatles from an early age (listening to my parents records) and truly appreciate the work they did and the way they opened up the world of music.

I understand though how someone can be so passionate about a band. I am the same about another band.
Bill Hill

I'm a big Beatles fan. thumbsup.gif so ahead of their time! they made all the rules and re-broke em at the same time.

The Beatles are definitely one of my all time top favorite bands ever. Often, when I am listening to them, I get this sense of longing. I wish it were possible to go back in time and be able to see them live. Also, I think Paul is awesome and I want him to adopt me.
