I've just been reading on the BBC that the UK's leading pumpkin supplier has had a very bad year and his crops are down 30%.

He also says that due to bad weather in June/July, the colour of the pumpkins has been affected, many of them are very green.

He warns that pumpkins are more likely to sell out early and be more expensive this year.

Hi Reg...If that affects you then you better run out early and load up for your party...I had planted pumpkin seed in the garden about 2 years ago...In July, i saw vines going everywhere and in August we had pumpkins....Of course we had to throw them all away, but if was fun seeing them grow in the summer... original.gif

Nice one Goalie, how cool is that. I've never been able to successfully grow a pumpkin and I try every year. I think I need the right spot, also my youngest has this great habit of trampling all over my veg patch - I have planted carrotts, peppers and the easiest thing to grow, french beans this year - and I haven't had anything grow.

You're right, I'm gonna have to get them in early this year. yes.gif
