I'm a geektress of geekdom.

I'm a consultant in the software and OS industry (which includes online businesses). I've done everything from development to IT management, but these days spend most of my time designing internal communications, tools and processes for VERY large development teams. I call myself a Technical Communications Specialist or an Information Architect.

Okay I'll play...

I'm a Marketing Specialist.

Sounds sort of vague, eh? Okay, more specifically:

**I am currently accepting only selective consultant work with large companies or corporations for branding, image awareness and targeting heavy-users for their products or services and creating annual marketing plans. ((A ton of research based on product/service, environment/geographical markets, different uses of mediums...blah, blah, blah...))

Example: A company would hire me to increase revenue in a certain area (could be any area from direct response to branding -loyal repreat customers; namely retention or repetative buying- to aligning with the proper charity to increasing regional business/sales... and so forth. Okay I think I sound confusing. Say the product is an automobile. I research the specific make and model, define the heavy-user, find what that heavy-user actually "looks like" to the client, research deeply into where and what makes that heavy-user "tick" and then create an elaborate marketing plan based on all mediums available (television, radio, newspaper, internet, direct mail, magazine...and so forth) ALL based on how much money the client has allocated annually and typically geared towards a selective geographical location or locations. Okay that's as nutshell as I can get with that.

Oh so you're the one I get to blame for all the messed up schools coming out of Texas that Im working on. I'm joking, just not about the messed up schools part.

Seriously though, I am Office manager/ supervisor/ head checker for a small drafting firm. I think my card say CAD manager or whatever my boss put on it.

Basically I receive work, estimate what the cost to our customers would be, assign the work, make sure it gets done and then check the work. I also fill in the rest of my day by being the head draftsman for work coming from our major customer. We have 6 employees total right now and are looking to add another sometime soon.

Basically my office takes what you don't have time to draw, do not want to draw, or don't know how to draw so we do it all for you. It varies from structural deck detailing, to various red line corrections, to total drawing recreation and archive work. Plus whatever else new or potential customers bring us.

Things are going well but I don't know if it's going to be for me in the long run. My first love is architectural 3D renderings and part of me wants to get back into that field somehow.....

lol!! No pun taken Ripley i get that a few times as soon as ppl hear the term demolition. What your talking about is high rise demolition thats where where the BIG BIG $$$ is & dangerous work in which you also need an explosive licence thorough security checks etc. Mine is light to medium rural industrial demolition of sheds, old houses, general land clearing etc etc(no swinging balls lol!) we also do trenching for underground irrigation, stormwater, home foundations etc etc. We live in a farming (market gardening community) I'm currently operating a JCB Backhoe exactly like this one, also operate a Cat loader & 10 ton crane & occasionally a trench digger, anyways bottom line the work varies from week to week.

lol! Thats how i saw it as a little fella too, my brothers & me were kinda born into it thru the ol man who started out that way with dozers, tip tucks etc etc. My brothers more so as i was still just a the little brother tagging along for the excitement & free rides lol! From there on it just grew on me kinda thing. I worked factories when i left school/home but 'no way' was it for me, so those seeds the o'l man planted in my head yrs earlier kinda came to sprout yrs later lol! earthmoving demolition & salvage was where the money & future was even if you worked for the man. Eventually tho i want to stem off from earthmoving & go into Olive Farming (''Olive Oil'') Global demand seems great & only looking to get a whole lot better from what i've seen/heard, who knows if it'll eventuate tho see how we go, it's more of a semi retirement thing...

Cool Jesspy! That was my very first career! I'm still licensed in my state to do that work, but I probably never will. I always wanted to become a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician (basically radioactive drugs), but the laws here are really strict about who can and cannot do that kind of work. Since I was young, early 20's, and at that time still "fertile" my state considered it a health risk for me and any children I might have. It would have been a health and legal liability.

And REB... I always wanted to drive one of those big backhoes or frontloaders! If I come to Oz will you let me drive yours? hehehee, I promise I'd be good... maybe... ok, maybe not... I'd probably get power hungry and mow everything in my path down. hahaha.

CASTOR
In response to Tenkay about making income....I'm a Graduate Assistant... It pays all my tuition. So I go to school for free. Its a nice gig. Plus they pay me a stipend on top of that. After that, I just live off of loans. Subsidized at that. Going to school is the best. It increases your ability earn in the long run and its a lot more fun than working.... Although, I have to say, Grad school is a lot more work than most people think. But, Its worth it.

I'm a Dietetic Technician, Registered. I work under a Registered Dietitian's license for the local health dept. around here. I get to teach women, infants and children (up to age 5) how to eat a more nutritious diet. I also check iron and lead in children up to age 3. If needed, I help check people into our clinic, figuring out income and such. Some days I do only one or two of the above jobs; other days it's all three and I rotate continually. I truly love my job and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!! original.gif

I just quit my job a month ago.
I worked in a store/gas station called a "depanneur" in french.
It's like a gas station in the US, but bigger.
Think about a grocery store, but with gas too.
Anyway, I worked there for a year, it plain sucked, and it was dangerous too.

I also worked in a pharmacy before, but I kinda...got fired. tongue.gif

So now, I'm unemployed, and that really sucks.
Anyone is welcome to send me money, really, I won't refuse. grin2.gif
