i relize that this topic will be locked in a matter of minutes but there is something i got to say even if only a few people see it. it's about stereotypes.....and i don't mean humaniod stereotypes though they are just as discusting. i mean stereotypes about my cats. when i say my cats i mean every cat in the world....even if it's yours it's mine. from the house cats to the lions and tigers they are all mine so .
so i was watching my former favorite cartoon earlier "tom and jerry" and i relized something that made me sick. cats are always the villian or the dumb one. think about it. tom from tom and jerry, sylvester from loonie toons, garfield the lazy fat cat. the movie cats and dogs where the cats are the bad guys. come on! people say cats are scared of dogs and what not.....* Snip * first cat's are not lazy and fat. they are wild animal...not even fully tamed. they need to be out running about killing things......while YOU keep them trapped in side with nothing to do but get fat. second cat's are smarter then dogs....they arn't going to jump at what ever some idiot human tells them to do. they can do plenty of tricks....just not for idiot humans, why? to make you happy....nope. third cats are not afriad of dogs. you see cats turn and run the other way when they see dogs.....not because they are afriad, but because dogs are dumb * Snip *. you know when your walking down the street and you see some idiot you don't want to talk to and you try to hide your face and stuff. that's what cats do "oh god here come's rover *Snip* " and only reason dogs kill cats is because they have to attack in numbers like little punks. let one dog go against one full grown cat. unless it's a pit bull or rottwiler dogs the cat will tear it apart. take a bobcat or lynx or cougar agianst those punk pit bulls and the cat will destroy it i promise.

This may make you feel a little better and prove your case . lol my dog is a cross rotty/german shepard and he sure can catch a cat BUT he always legs it once they take a swipe at him . plus the neighbourhood cats now dont even bother to run from him they know he has no idea what to do with them if he even gets near them .

My cat use to chase dogs, I'd have to watch her when I'd let her outside...poor dogs, they'd probably think she was a badger running after them. Dogs are cool too, but I much more prefer cats.

Cat's are the villains when they fight mice in cartoons, but when they're up against dogs in cartoons, it's the dog that's the villain. It's a way of showing triumph over adversity, size over brains, whatever you like to call it. It's Disney's et al's way of showing that the underdog (so to speak) can win. In cartoons, usually, it's the smaller animal that wins.

So, it's wrong for a dog to chase a cat... then you say cats should be out killing things, what's the difference there? Don't say it's because the cat does it to eat, because most of the time, they don't eat their prey. It's a cat being a cat and playing with it's food, just living true to it's roots. When dogs chase cats, they rarely kill it, they are just programmed to chase; living true to their roots.

Is there an IQ test for cats and dogs? How can you say cats are more intelligent. They're different species and cannot be compared. Cats have a different level of mental ability based on their needs; dogs have their own needs and therefore different abilities.

I'd rather have a dog come save me than a cat though. Cat would just sit and look and lick itself...

did anybody here ever get attacked by a cat? HOLY CRAP!! i have three times (haha yes laugh at me) it wasn't a pretty sight, blood dripping down my face and arms after every attack, i still got scars from them (two from claws one from a bite that nearly ripped my lip off).

as for your ally cats at night......it's taken care of i just snapped my figures....it's fixed.

I don't think cats don't go out because people don't let them, I think it's their nature. Even in the wild, a cat will sleep up to 19 hours per day. Why would domesticated cats be any different?

I really don't think a cat could beat up a dog, dogs are pretty mean when they get going. Cats have claws whereas dogs have nasty teeth!

Never been attacked by a cat (thankfully) but have a great scar on my arm from a game with a kitten when it just happened to catch me just right (or wrong, depending on how you look at it).

Sorry,but in my experience,most of the supposedly "domesticated" felines are "anti-social,lazy,egotistical,hairballs-waiting-to-happen with delusions of grandeur".

I've met a few that were actually cool...but most of them are as I described above.

Don't get me wrong...even some of my relatives (Rottweilers,Dobermans,Poodles...etc.) can be quite like the felines in some ways and even worse in other ways.It's just like the differences in humans.Some are cool...others should be put down.

I don't have any don't want them either, we have ferals the size of small dogs roam'n round my area.
These animals are predators by nature so pampering them is wrong imo. Plus they breed like rabbits. lol!

I must have the exception to the rule. My Rottweiler is up most of the night planning the terror he will unleash. I got up a week ago and he ATE the front of my wife's rocking chair. Not chewed, completley ate..... I give cats credit for having a dangerous set of claws, but after seeing the damage my dog can inflict with his powerful jaws and huge teeth, I don't think if he was serious a cat would be more than a snack. This is also the same dog that when he was a four month old puppy, he ate the doorknob off my back door. Solid steel doorknob. Anything that can not only chew solid metel but eat it afterwords has my utmost respect.

cats are sooooo cool. there low maitinance, unlike dogs, you don't have to walk them, unlike dogs, and they cover up their own poop, ulike dogs,,,,,or humans,,,LOL

Someone I knew didn't like cats because they had their own spit all over them so he couldn't imagine anyone wanting to touch them.........fair enough I couldn't argue with that.

Yes I have been attacked by a cats and dogs, there is no comparison. I ran a boarding facility for animals and have been attacked several times.
The cats leave scratches and puncture wounds where as the dogs leave puncture wounds, gashed and ripped open flesh.
I dont see how a domestic feline could kill you by attacking but a dog could easily.

I have both cats and dogs.
They live outside. I let two of the dogs sleep in the house on a nightly basis. They have their own beds and don't use the bathroom in the house.
The cats however do not sleep in the house unless its cold outside and then they are restricted to the bathroom where I place a litter box.
I do not allow the cats to have full house privledges. I let them come in to eat and when they are done they are put back outside.
I dont like the fact that cats use the litter box and then get on the furniture, table, counters or bed.
I also dont care for them tearing up the furniture, curtains, plants and so forth.

The dogs are protectors and companions.
When trained properly.
They do not tear up or get on the furniture, they do not contaminate the food surfaces.
(Some dogs do chew on house hold items but there are ways to avoid it.)
They give unconditional affection and loyalty.
I would prefer a dog to be my protector far more than a cat.
I had rather have a dog come to my rescue than a cat.

Cats are predators, they like to hunt their prey, play about with it for a while and then when they get bored, kill it.

They like to lick themselves clean all the time and enjoy doing the exact opposite of what you ask.

They stay out on the tiles all night (probably at the alley-cats party at the end of the street), if you don't get them "done" the tomcats like to father lots of kittens and then abandon them all.

They like to sit in the sun all day and then prowl around indoors at night and jump on your head when they want grub.

If you don't discipline them as kittens, they will climb your net curtains so that your house looks as though it contains the family from hell.

I used to prefer Dogs over Cats, but since owning two Chihuahuas... I'm now a cat person.
In my humble opinion, tiny dogs are the most useless and idiotic things ever. Sorry if you're offended.
