If it is any consolation, I didn't have a clue either, my husband converted all my weights and measurements from imperial to metric laugh.gif

This was interesting, and incredibly inaccurate for me.

This converter makes no consideration for upper body build or bone and muscle structure. My upper body is where most of my bulk is -- broad shouldered, and ummm... busty. I'm also quite muscular through the upper thigh and shoulders.

This converter just told me that I'm "slightly overweight" and apple shaped and carrying my weight in my gut and that I should improve my diet and shed a few pounds. It's flat wrong.

If I lost any weight, I wouldn't look or feel very healthy. I know this because I've been working on putting weight back ON. Never felt or looked better.

Ladies and gents, be careful with this converter, it doesn't take all body builds into consideration.

You are awesome. I have been curious to these results on myself for a while now. A+ thread to me! thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

Apparently I store fat on my buttocks. sad.gif

Supposedly, I am the right weight for my height. Woopie. This would make me feel good about my physical condition if I hadn't recently received the results of my first cholesterol test.

Sometimes it seems like for any given person there's bound to be something horribly wrong with their body. I don't dare to ignore the cholesterol problem because... I want as much time as I can get on this planet. On the other hand, it's sad to think of giving up a material pleasure that I LOVE (potato chips & French fries) because of a warning issued by a medical industry that has everything to gain from turning me into a hypochondriac. I guess I'll err on the side of caution. I'm just having too good of a time. I love French fries but I love life even more....

But we need some sort of health magazine that's equivalent to Consumer Reports (eg- just what is the life expectancy of people who have such-and-such a condition along with a basically healthy lifestyle?).

i need to chunk up a bit.. and like raptor, i store fat in by buttocks???

but anyhoo this is what it said

Your Body Mass Index (BMI) represents your weight in relation to your height. A figure between 18.5 and 25 indicates that your BMI falls within a the 'healthy' weight range.
Your BMI is 19,5, which means that you are a healthy weight for your height.

Your Ideal Weight is based on your height and age.
Your ideal weight is around 59 kg, which means that you should put on a few kilos to reach your ideal weight.

Your Hip-to-Waist Ratio shows how you store fat. A reading of over 0.85 for women and 1.0 for men means that your body stores fat on the abdomen, which could put you at risk of heart disease.
Your HWR is 0,8, which means that you are a pear shape, storing fat on the hips and buttocks.

Your Body Summary:
You can allow yourself a few extra kilos!
Try to eat a balanced diet to ensure that you don't lose any weight and maybe even put a little on. Make sure you are giving your body all the nutrients it needs.

Phew! I made it into the healthy range (at 23.3 just barely). I'm supposed to just "maintain".

One thing kind of bothered me though...no input on one's upper body size (ie, chest). I wonder why? I carry a bit of weight up there verses my waist. So, I'm not really the "pear shape" they are saying I am...kinda more like an old fashioned coke bottle actually.

Lucky me.

It also told me my waist was too big, but thats only because I guessed my hip measurement (I have no idea what that is).

6"3 / 146lbs = underweight. In an obese age...go me

Completely inaccurate for me. Told me I was overweight when even I can say that's not true. People keep telling me lately they can't get over how tiny I am!

ur body stores fat on the abdomen

that's not suprising
when.i.am.queen.
Well, it told me that I was perfectly healthy except that my waist to hip ration is up at around 0.5
So rather, down around.
Which means I am pear shape, apparently (personally I prefer the term hourglass. Pear sounds ... too fruity)
Which raises my question..how do they know that I don't carry weight around on my upper body and not my lower one?

Not that I do...but it just made me think.

I agree about the upper body bit, MMW and Queen also mentioned it. It hadn't occurred to me until MMW said about it, but she is right really. In my own case I have broad shoulders (due to a hell of a lot of sport) and a big chest.

It looks like they are going by the waist to hips ratio, but even though I put this Thread up, even I would like to know what happens to the results if somebody has something like a 36-24-36 figure? By their reckoning the person could be pear shaped! Not in my view it wouldn't be laugh.gif

Out of interest, I went back on that site and made up a person that would have a 36-24-26 figure, just to see what it said. It said the same thing about pear shaped! Now that is peculiar, because if I had that sort of figure I would consider it anything BUT pear shaped!

I 100% agree that they need an upper body measurement too.

ya, after I got done being utterly annoyed with the calculator.. lol.. I had to laugh that it called me "Apple" shape.

I'm not sure what you'd compare my build to... maybe sledgehammer shaped? LOL. laugh.gif
