This has plagued me ever since 9/11. I am a South African Citizen and after 9/11 we can see the changes. (stricter banking laws etc) so I was wondering what will happen if the US is bombed by A terrorist like Bin Laden by using a nuclear device on a city like
New York or Washington(God Forbid)

To me it seems inevitable that this will happen in the end. This is what the deranged minded terrorists will do in the end. Get their hands on plutonium and construct A nuclear device. Even if it is a low yield device and ground detonated it will still have an enormous impact and 50000 up to 100000 people will die.

Will this happen in our Lifetime? I think it will happen sooner than we think. (I might be wrong) .

What will the consequences be of this? World war III or total annihilation of humanity in the end. (Extreme retalliation by the US)

Total annihilation of humanity because a US city gets nuked? Uhh, no. The US with limp on, go to war with another country and continue to be resented by it's neighbours. The world will be just fine.

There should be a cause to go ahead with WWIII, I wont be surprised if something happened,

1) 9/11 to get into Afghanistan
2) NW to get into Iraq
3) ????? to get into Iran?

I've thought it over many time in years past and I just don't think a significant terrorist attack of a nuclear nature could do anything more than be a pain in the ass...... I guess you could say I'm not too worried.

I hope to goodness that this never happens. If it did, I wonder if the US would retaliate with nukes?

I know the US and its current leaders have little (its safer to say "no") respect from the world community but do you actually think those in charge will attack a suspected terrorist cell with nukes?

What's the target? A walk-up apartment just outside NYC where a couple of dip-sheites pooped in a bucket for a month so they could use the bathroom as a bomb lab......

Well, after 9/11, New York has gotten pretty good at stopping terrorists; it's the other cities that haven't had attacks yet that concern me. And the fact that the government took away funding from New York to protect places like Charlotte, NC. ...cause terrorists hate Nascar....

I think the biggest problem after such an attack would be exactly what happened after 9/11 -- the American citizenry will be afraid and confused enough to let the power-hungry officials they let get elected in their apathy destroy their constitutional rights. I mean, having seen it once, you'd think they'd not let it happen again, but Americans are kind of dim and lazy en masse.

I think, If the United states got nuked by another country it would retaliate in kind with its own nuclear weapons, but i think if a terrorist group set off a nuclear device and caused extreme lost of life, i think the very next day you'd have 54,696,706 men and women turn up for active service and would go on a crusade, most of which i think would fight free of charge, an army that size would be like a small country on the move and god help anyone who stands in its way.

I could also see mass killing of arabs and muslims inside the US occurring. I don't support this, but I could see it happening after such an attack.

Which is why we have trained commanders and strategists and diplomats to stop the morons who would want this to happen.
