I know it's a little early. I went to Walmart last year & all I got was a DVD for $1.88. I won't be going to any stores this year. I am dissappointed with the ads. The only things that interested me are the laptops from Best Buy($229) & Frys($299). I already have a laptop, but it's for my sister. But to get them, you gotta have to be there at around 5pm(too late now as it's almost 12:30 AM here). There is no BF ad for Michaels crying.gif. I'll might go to Fry's in the afternoon. I'll just buy from Ebay. I'm thinking of buying a new mousepad.

I'll post later on what I bought.

OMG "bills" Tell me about it!

Ebay? Dont worry about postage, get yaself to a Nix Nax, Cheap as Chips, Crazy Clarks or Dollors and Cents place and get a mouse pad there. Just as good and you wont be paying for with an arm or leg. lol

Black Friday is the biggest shopping day for Christmas in the States...Some stores open at midnight, others open at 4 or 5 a.m..It's a big hype, and unless a store is having this great sale on an item, (they usually only have 3) it's not worth it...But it's the hype over here and people go nuts...Can't figure out why grin2.gif
She-ra
Nope. Nothing...not me. It's too crowded and messy sad.gif No likey.
goalienan
I have not and never will shop on Black Friday....I go online, and get most of my shopping done, very comfortable, with a cup of coffee laugh.gif and for the very personal gifts I go to the Mall...Most of the same sales that are advertised on BF are held until Christmas anyway, so there's no point in getting crushed and fighting over an item...Nope, I love convenience wink2.gif

Well, when a store makes a lot of money it's called being "in the Black"... if the store is losing money or not doing well it's referred to as "in the RED". Therefore, in order to make up for any money needed to get out of the red and into the black; retail stores promote the "Black" Friday sales to try to boost revenues prior to the end of the calendar year. I guess it works if they're on a fiscal calendar too, but whatever, you know what I'm saying.

oh i thought black friday was a political thing. laugh.gif

OH MY ME TOO!! Especially grabby crowds and people fighting over the "last one" kind of thing... UGH. I actually do a lot of my shopping online. It's so much easier. I hate dealing with the parking lots too; people just get whacked this time of year it's CRAZY!!

Online shopping is my thing too! I actually do it with my sister. We message each other as we buy. It's fun.
What I hate about black friday is the lines, and the parking, and the pushy people....I guess I hate everything about it.

You're probably right about that. But why go out when you can shop right here from your PC?

Not really, but I saw this really cool looking mousepad that I like. It's a World of Warcraft mousepad. Even though I don't like WOW, I'm buying it because it looks really cool. I'm also planning to buy the book "Weird Carolinas" on Ebay too.

Aww... were they soft? *LOL* I sleep under three furry/soft blankets and an electric blanket.

I had to work today. Got to work tomorrow and the next as well.

I am buying nothing today.

I dont fall for the "you must buy gifts today" BS that gets more agressive every year. It is just like what Christmas has become. God forbid you make a gift for someone. Kids are now spoiled to expect a dozen gifts or more that are expensive, it is unbelievable. People fall for it. Lemmings to the mall...it is embarrassing in my opinion that people are willing to spend themselves into debt, spoil kids, give them yet more gifts they dont care about to pile up in their room, or random gifts to friends of family that are poorly thought out or rather random; just because you have to BUY a gift. Because that is what is done on TV.

Christmas gifts in our house are generally handmade; meals for each other...my wife knits things, we can/jar really good spaghetti sauce, I make killer butter cookies. For family kids we figure out what they are into and give books that they will actually like,be it science, sports, spy stuff, even if they are graphic novels...something so they know we spent a lot of time thinking about what would be right for them.

I really do hate what christmas has become how people are spending themselves into debt because of it.

me too !!!!!!! I go only when I have to.

But today I bought online , finally , after debating , comparing ect....... and putting off . a new all in one printer since my old one took a dump about 6 months ago . I love my fax - really comes in handy. Nothing fancy since they don't last forever and getting them fixed can cost sometimes as much as getting a new one --- what a waste ! really .

as well as a treat for me - Annie Lennox's lastest cd.

and I need a new quilt .......... and online is the best way to shop for the kids and gran for the holidays. no rush , can compare different companies and prices .... ah yes. It saves me money , time and stress. and I spend cash , no credit. all within my budget . The trick is really thinking about the gift.

My sister in law's family spoil the kids with tons of gifts. Last year I bought her a battery riding childs 4 wheeler for 60.$ ( yes 60) they made the mistake of giving that to her first. She didn't want to get off of it to see anything else. She still rides it. I saw how she loved to pretend to drive her dads over the summer and looked high and low ( she was only 3) lo and behold they make one for ages 2 - 5. I've seen the same product again but now it's 2x the price and usually sold out. I got lucky.

I'm not sure about this year. I think I may go the educational route - I know she doesn't have a cd player and loves music -- that may be the road and include a language cd as well.

She hasn't come home yet... I guess that's a bad sign, my wallet just keeps getting flatter.

I went to Fry's to see if I can find anything interesting. Fry's is the only store whose Black Friday sale last the whole day instead of a few hours. I arrived at 4pm. As I expected, the Compaq laptop that costed $299 was sold out. I learned they had over a hundred(yes that's right, over a hundred) Compaqs & they sold out like hotcakes.

It was really funny how people kept asking if they still have more, even when there's a big sign next to the display model that clearly says SOLD OUT. In my mind I went, "Come on people! It's 4 in the afternoon & you think they still have any more of the laptops? Can't you see the sign!

I actually found something that caught my eye: an RCA digital voice recorder for $10. I really wanted to buy it, but I wasn't to wait in the checkout line. 3 & a half hours to checkout ohmy.gif . The line went all over the store. I don't even know where it began! ohmy.gif I decided it wasn't worth it and left.

After that fiaso, I pretty much went to Micheals & bought some stuff there. Unlike Fry's, Michaels wasn't crowded & I felt much better with almost no people around. After that, I pretty much went home.

Anyways, here's what I bought:

Ebay

World of Warcraft Night Elf mousepad ($7)
Weird N.J. ($5)
Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy photo frame ($15)

Michaels
12 Watercolor paint set ($5)
11x14 3-pack artists canvas ($4)
25 Assorted brushes set ($5)

Yep, I'm the only one around here who bought from an arts & crafts store on Black Friday. tongue.gif
