Mr-X
Im thinking of going to England for 1 year on a working VISA. I dont really know where i want to live. I was thinking about North London. Are there any good places in north london where its not so close to the inner city but not to far from it.  Somewhere where the young out number the old.

Any kind of advice will do.

Mr-X is coming to a suburb near you!!!!! :o

                         thx
Tommy
Alright X!!!  :D

Ok places in North London.  Really depends how much you want to spend.

I’m near Enfield, which is alright I suppose, but if you want more of a London feel, try checking out Camden or Islington.

Map of Greater London

I’m sure PS would have something else to add to this… :s6

Anywhere in Greater London is easily accessible though, so u don’t have to worry about how to get to the city for the great nightlife.  8)

Cheers Tommy,

Is North London an expensive area to live in?

How far is Camden from the inner city.

[blue]Don't know much about living in London, north south east or west, but can I just sell England for a moment:

In England you're only ever 60 miles from the sea at any point on the land.
We have tons of National Parks each having different climate/vegetation/terrain/wildlife.
Our pubs are just the best.
You can drive ten mins from the biggest cities and find yourself in virtual rural isolation.
Our people (northerners) are the most friendly in Europe.
We got rid of our villains to Tasmania...

Enjoy England Mr X.

Northerners, friendly  ???

London is great. I live smack bang in North London (stoke newington) and i really wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Expensive is a relative term - as a guide my flat is quite cheap i s'pose - rent is approx £180/week (2 bedroom). some areas are very cheap, but believe me you are paying less as the area isn't so good. Camden and Islington are the nicer, trendier, closer in places but are also the most expensive. when you say "close to the centre" I assume you mean for the shopping/ nightlife (the West End) as opposed to The City (business). Camden is very close (1-2 miles maybe) to the West End and it too has a lot of nightlife.  You will probably find the cost of living hidiously expensive compared to what you are used to though!
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

In a way you don't have to limit yourself to one area, as public transport is good enough that you don't need a car (unless you are unfortunate enough to live south of the river :) )

Tommy - Enfield - you are just round the corner then!  :D

Ahh cool PS!  :D

Whats east london like? places like chiswick wimbeldon :s6

*scratches head*

all parts of london are different apart from the bits that are the same - is that any help?  :D

It's very difficult to describe as i can't talk from your point of reference.

Wimbledon is SW london therefore it's south of the river and you don't want to live there.

Chiswick, i don't really know at all, i'm afraid.

On a practical side of things public transport is easier north of the river as the majority of the Tube is that side.

East london is very much like north london, but it depends on which part again.
