Okay, Staffordshire. Let's see. I looked that up in my Gazetteer of British Ghosts and found two entries, but I left it in the car and it's the middle of the night and I can't remember what they were!
I think one of them was a castle that had a black lady and a white lady (ghosts). Tam- something? Trying to think. The black lady was supposed to be Editha, sister of Athelstane (?). She was married to an early king of Briton but he relapsed into pagan worship and threw her over so she became a nun. After 1066 the guy that William I gave the lands to threw out the nuns who were living in the convent she founded. They fled to another, but the same guy had been given those lands and he threw them out again, so her ghost showed up, hit him with a crozier and chased him down the haunted staircase.
Sound familiar? Anyway, welcome aboard!
