My cats name comes with a little story, here it is:

I came home from work, about 7 years ago now, and pulled into my driveway.
I opened the door of my car and before I could get my seatbelt off a little cat came around the door and jumped into my lap.
He looked up at me and me down at him. He did a 360 and curled up on my lap.
I looked at him and said, " well hello, and who are you?"
He looked up at me and said,"MOW"-not meow-MOW.
I looked at him and said, what did you say"? He again answered with "MOW".
He was curled up happily and purring very loud..... wub.gif

Ok, I never had a cat before-only large German Shepards 90-150 pounds. I feed him and pet him and well.......we adopted each other.

When he is let in the house-2 story- and I am upstairs he will make his way upstairs and :MOW loudly until I yell, I am her mow-in office, my room, master bedroom...
He will then go and join me. He must be on or next to me.

In the computer room I placed a chair with a soft blanket (yea, I spoil him rotten) next to the computer chair. he knows it's his chair and he sleeps their when I am in the computer room working.

The real funny part is if I have a friend over and remove the blanket so they can sit down and mow comes in to the room, he will stand infront of the chair and mow very loudly-with a complaining tone-what are u doing in my chair!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, that is the story of me and my mow. grin2.gif

We have a cat named Ceefor. C is for cat.
We have a squirrel named Robin Hood. The kids named him.
We have a chocolate brown lab named Ruby-doo (kind of a spin off from Scooby-doo).
All animals are spoiled rotten. The dog and cat sleep on the bed with my husband and I. Barely enough room! tongue.gif
I had a rooster that died 4 months ago. His name was cocky-doodle-doo. We used to let him roam around in the house sometimes. I had this plastic yard chicken ornament that he used to try to spar with. Apparently he thought it was real. tongue.gif

1) Electra - OSH cat - named for electra of the play
2) Orestes - Siamese cat - brother to electra of the play (deceased)
3) Calista - Caracal cat - named by convention of name ends in "a",and the tie to california - the place we were thinking of moving prior to adopting her
4) Xerxes - Culvier's dwarf caiman - namesake of Xerxes
5) Lucifer - albino bermese python - sounded good (got snakes during my i-hate-christianity-post-mother-death-teenage-years)
6) Beelzebub - reticulated python
8) Satan - boa constrictor
9) Uncle Niles - nile monitor, liked the name niles, somehow became uncle niles

there are all my pets back to my first. All the reptiles were sold when I sold my house and downsized. I currently have Electra and Calista.

Gosh, I've had so many pets (all spoiled) in my life I couldn't begin to list them. Right now I have five cats and five dogs. I pretty much name them on instinct. Whatever name seems to fit them, that's who they are. My current babies are:

Dogs:

SallyJane - Rottweiler
Teddy - catahoula x malamute mix
and their kids
Tebo (after Tebo Creek, a local waterway)
Daphne
and Vladimir (who's a female - don't ask!)

Cats:

OC (short for Obstacle Course because I got her when she ran out in front of me and I had to ditch my car to keep from killing her! She's the mom.)
Candy (looks like a melted Milky Way Dark candy bar)
Rusty (grey tiger stripe with rust-colored markings)
Lefty (Rusty's "twin" but stockier and with a white left paw)
Blondie (the boy, who's a beautiful lemon and cream colored tiger stripe)
_Nyx_
Nothing exciting about how my little darlings were named. Stitch (an Abyssinian) got his name from the movie, Tigger (3-legged Maine Coon) well, everyone has to have a Tigger, and Spooky (all black with a white bow-tie-he's a barn-yard special) got his name because he gets spooked by everything. He's real skittish. Should've named him "Neurotic", but Spooky suited him best. original.gif

I have 2 cats that my wife and I found when we were on vacation in Las Vegas. We stopped into a Petsmart for a pitstop as we were driving around town, and a young girl that worked for the store had just taken the trash out; in the trash bin were 3 kittens about a week old that had been thrown away.

crying.gif

My wife and I decided to take two of them, and the girl took the other one. The best part was that we had to sneak the kittens(and milk bottles and other kitty-gear) back into the Casino and the hotel. The casino was noisy so it was no problem, but we got into the elevator and we had other people with us. My wife had put the kittens into the center pocket of her coverals; they were so small they fit...The other people in the elevator heard the tiny mewing coming from her pocket, so we had to tell them the story; they thought it was cool.

Anyway the grey one attached himself to me, his fur was all scruffy, so I called him Scruffy( Scruffington is his full name). The little black one had perfect little white mittens in her fur, hence the name Mittens.

Awww! Fluffy they're ADORABLE!!!!! wub.gif How could anyone throw away such little darlings?? I'm so glad you and your wife and that girl were there to give them good homes. thumbsup.gif

Your story reminds me of another I heard. Each Memorial Day there's a huge multi-fandom convention in Lansing, Michigan. (Sort of like a Star Trek convention, but with almost every fandom imaginable represented.) Part of the convention is an annual art auction. Well, a couple years ago someone had ordered a pizza to be delivered and on his way into the hotel the delivery guy found a tiny kitten. He dropped it off at the art auction on his way by. The auctioneer auctioned it off and then the audience passed a hat and took up a collection for it's shots and spaying/neutering.

(OT: I know avid fans have a reputation for being weird and, honestly, some of them are. But I was lucky enough to go to Lansing last year and am hoping to go this year and these weirdos are some of the nicest people on the planet. blink.gif Kind of like UM, come to think of it. huh.gif)

I have a white rabbit and I called him Harvey...there is ablack and white film and it is about a 6 foot white rabbit that only the main actor can see(until nearer the end)I can't remember the name of the film.
MichaelS
The name of the film is "Harvey", and it's got James Stewart in it.... which is an interesting coincidence since my Dad's name is Harvey Stewart...

My sister- who's just moved in with me, has a black cat named Einstien. original.gif

I have had sooo many animals before, but here is a few...

Past:
4 rats: Roscoe P coltrain (albino Male), Ringo Studd (white Male), Caramel (red female) Coco (brown female)
hamsters: Not the mama, Dylan (after 90210)
Fantailed Goldfish: Sushi (lived for 4 years and would play dead)
cats: Pity, Zip, Venus, Cooper
Dogs: Nuisence(RottX), Doo-Dah(beagleX), Cleopatra (Future Leader Dog yellow Lab) Athena (FLD Golden Ret.) Lady (black lab), Duke (chocolate Lab)
Rabbit: Oreo (black and white)
I am sure I had more when I was growing up but these I think are the main ones.

Present:
Cats: Guess (X eyed Lilac point siamese) nicknames: Ms. Meow, Guessy
Romeo (seal point siamese) nicknames: Fat Boy, Fattymalacotti
Dog: Emmi (leader Dog reject German Shepard) nicknames: emmi-loo, emily, Baby Girl

Guess has to be the best name, cause when people ask "oh what a cute cat, what's its name?" you can kinda see where that goes. LOL.

I used to work at a pet shop too and would name the dogs there before they got homes. Lets just say I am pretty creative with animal names. lol.
Subtemperate
I had a black cat, with white feet.... and called it snowy, because it looked like it was up to its ankles in snow at night.... huh.gif

I named my brothers cat for him, called it sponge. My reasoning was, just like a sponge..Your cat sucks....

I currently have a cat called turtle, it went through a rough patch in its life where we called it squirtle, but Pokemon made us change that....
Frogs
My doberman.

He is big (over 100lbs) and very tall. He is strong as an ox. He is clumsy. He is usually gentle and sweet. He always seems to mean well - but bless his heart - the boy ain't the brightest bulb in the lamp. He is always, always hungry and will eat anything.

Naming him "Jethro" after the char on the Beverly Hillbillies seem the perfect choice.
star_child
My wee dog is called Jessie. I picked that name after I read a book with a dog in it called Jessie. It was either Jessie, Daisy, or Star. My dad calls her Jessie James, after Jesse James, that western guy. She has so many nicknames though. tongue.gif
Nxt2Hvn
I have three cats... Cheech (Tuxedo black & white 9 years old), Tia (White 7 years old) and Pip Squeak (Solid black 2 years old)....

Cheech got his name because when he was a kitten he always would sit and look at the ceiling .. but nothing was there... so I decided he acted like he was high.. so I named him Cheech .. from the Cheech and Chong movies... tongue.gif

Tia is a small white female cat with a green eye and a blue eye.. and I liked the name Tia.. and just started calling her that....

Pip Squeak was so much smaller than the other two older cats when we got him... and we were trying to come up with a name .. in the mean time we had been calling him Pip Squeak... and the name just kinda stuck.. tongue.gif ... ironic thing is .. he is now bigger than both of the older cats.... tongue.gif

Disinterested
I am owned by four ferrets.

Mickey - he was my first ferret, and this was the only name I could think of at the time.

Clyde - named after Clyde of Bonnie and Clyde. I did have Bonnie, but she died last year of a stroke. sad.gif

Lily - named as a bit of a 'tribute' to my other little girl Daisy, who also died last year, just over a week before Bonnie did. (Daisy got her name because when she was a baby she would walk around making a quacking-type sound).

Jack - Curt and I were really into Pirates of the Caribbean when we named him, so we named him after Jack Sparrow... cuz, well, he's the captain.
SuperSarah

Currently I have two cats, the eldest is a 13 year-old siamese named
"Samantha" and the youngest is a 3 year-old calico named "Scotia". wub.gif

Samantha received her name because she's a siamese. When we first
got her, we came up with a whole lot of names, but none suited her as well
as "Samantha". original.gif

Scotia received her name from one of my favorite songs "My Town" by
the group - Glass Tiger. I used to listen to that song a lot around the
time that 'adorable little bundle of fur' came into my life. And when
I heard that name "Scotia" in the song, it suited my little one purr-fectly!! original.gif

Purplos
First cat I owned was Mooch - rescued him from a storm drain when he was probably 3 weeks old - too young to be out on his own.

Second cat was Rupert - he was a dufus and the name just fit.

Third cat was Ember 'cause her eyes glowed like them.

They have all either died or scattered.

Now I have about 27 fish, but only one is named. Spike is a big 8 inch long nasty-looking algae sucker.
