angry.gif Ya know I can deal with a lot of crap on TV. I turn off what offends or irritates me. But a few minutes ago, I heard while folding clothes for the umteenth time today a commercial that just makes me scream and want to hurt someone badly. It is these damn Songs for Worship and Kid's Songs of Worship commercials. Great freekin' day!! I am about ready to have my cable turned off. If you change the station, chances are you will be bombarded again with one of these damn albatrosses that we seem to be forced to carry, with in a few minutes. I hate having this religous crap forced on me at every turn. I don't see any Songs of Islamic worship, Druid Kid's songs of worship-All 'round the Oak tree commercials on TV. I am thinking if one can do it why not all? My vote would be none at all, but that is just me though. I read in a post the day after the pope was elected, that he was forced into being a Nazi as a child. Man, everybody is jumping up and down about how horrible that was. Nobody jumps up and down about the "Christians" doing the same to our children by targeting them on TV with Crap like Kid's songs of worship. My daughter, who knows nothing about Christianity, actually wanted this crap!! I was fuming. But then again she is also the same child at the age of 4 saw a tampon commercial, the one with nothing but the lower half of a woman's body walking down the street. The navel was singing Dianna Ross' I'm comming Out, came running up to me wanting them so bad. Of course she had no idea what they were or what they were for, but wanted them none the less. But, I digress. I just wanted to rant and get all this out before I kill someone. angry.gif Thanks for listening.

Your being sensitive...... lol

The kid does not associate either product with its divine purpose..... Kids are innocent in that way, and they can just see what they enjoy, rather then the deeper meanings.

I myself used to read bible stories to go to sleep... and yet for my entire life I have not believed in religion, I saw them as fun stories....

You know my son loves music. Whenever a song or musical commercial comes on he starts dancing a one and a half year olds' version of a jig..
But whenever we see this stupid commercial he just stops and stares or looks for something else to do..
So cheer up! there's hope for the future yet!! thumbsup.gif

I listen to music that talk about violence, sex, drugs, and cuss all at the same time! And not once in my life...have I ever cussed at anyone...never done drugs, i'm mostly anti-violence because I think its the wrong way.....i'm 15

Things go unexpectadly.

P.S. If my post above is somewhat offensive, please accept my apologies original.gif .

Hailo does have a good point.
Although my stance on religion is well known i'm sure, i do need to take a side backing it here.
*gasp*

It's all fine and dandy to get peeved off when religious views are forced on those who are not religious, but what about turning that on it's head for a second? The amount of views of non-religious people that are pushed onto people with religious beliefs by far outnumber the odd commercial for some worship song. And you can just mute it or whatever.

I completely agree with burnside....

The thing is, it's not really religion that's making you crazy at this point. It's capitalism. There are few things more insidiously annoying than annoying commercials played over and over and over again!

Years ago (not saying how many! tongue.gif) I got hooked on an old spy show that was being shown on TNT. For some reason it was sponsored by certain companies that ran marathon three and four minute long commercials during the breaks. I still remember one was some sour-faced guy from U.S. News and World Report who started by holding up a People magazine and going, "Superman's Fifty! Whoop de do!" and then b****ing about the competition. Another was an encyclopedia commercial and another was Sports Illustrated.

ARRRGGHH! All these years later and I still get annoyed remembering those commercials. Whoever convinced these people that there's no such thing as bad advertising needs to be shot! angry.gif

Its not bad advertising, you still remember it don't you? lol

It may not of been appealing, but you can still remember it... and hate it, which at least gets the product in peoples minds....
Elfstone810
Yes, but I always remember not to buy them because they annoyed me! tongue.gif

I think good ads are entertaining and make you associate the product with pleasant feelings. Who remembers the "well, you're my dad, Dad, and . . . I LOVE YOU MAN!" "You're not gettin' my beer John." commercials? grin2.gif

lol Sometimes ads can be a little too bad for our memory.....

Mainly they try and imprint the brand in your mind, they find thats a winner, but obviously if you dont buy the product on purpose due to the adverts, then they may have stepped over the mark....
