because BBC news ( T.V ) like other networks only like to show the following;
Death / killings / rape etc...
sad stories
moaning about stupid things
and moan more about political issues
basically the news is the same every day.
Breakthroughs in science happen EVERY DAY but the majority do not here about them. All breakthroughs are well reported on the internet tho, even on the bbc website;
