Is there anyway that the forum Admins could get an average age for the members of this forum?

I just notice the "members celebrating their birthday" and was wondering the average age etc.

I know its really down to if people put in their "real" date of birth (going to edit my profile in a second to add mine) but maybe an average of the people who have entered these detail?

Also our youngest and oldest just as a bit of fun.

No need for names just the ages would be interesting.

I'm 44 by the way. geek.gif

the age is probably stored in a sql table, so it wouldn't just be easy, it would be very easy.

You could start a poll in the general topic section.

Example:

Ages 13 and under choice

Ages 14 - 25 choice

Ages 26 to 40 choice

Ages 41 and up choice

That would give you a rough percent depending on how many people would vote. original.gif

Unfortunately only the date of birth is stored, so in order to get the average age it's necessary to calculate the age of each member from that date.

I've gone ahead and written a short script to do it as I was quite curious myself.

It appears that the average age of those UM members who have actually added a date of birth to their profile (that's less than 3000 out of 19,000+) is: 25

There are a few of us that didn't put an age, or put the wrong age...*cough* Fluffy. innocent.gif

That's interesting because I'd have thought we had a pretty young age profile. I'm 18 but some of the people here make me feel really old ...

Wow... impressive Saruman, thanks for figuring that out. original.gif

I'm 14 and I'll be 15 on monday. I expect the average age to rise in correspondance to this.

I wonder what it would have been, if all 19,000 members had added the correct date of birth to their profile, it would be very interesting indeed.
