This isn’t really the time or place to go into my reasons for doing so…suffice to say that a variety of personal issues have piled up too high for me to hold them back anymore. This isn’t going to be one of those “oh, I’ll be back in a couple of weeks” threads…the Sera One is, I’m afraid, going into retirement.
I do bid a very fond farewell to many of you. My…very long stay
at UM has been a pleasant one, filled with conversation that has sometimes been intelligent, and sometimes fun…sometimes emotional, and sometimes friendly…I’ve made friends among you and, while I certainly don’t consider a single person on this board an enemy, there have been some who I’ll admit I didn’t see eye to eye with. But it has always been a journey that I’m pleased to have taken with you all. If I should ever return, I can promise it won’t be for a very long time…I can't honestly say when, or if, I'll be back. At this point, I had intended to go into detail about all the people I wished to thank for making my time here so special, should I never get the chance to do so…but there are too many names to mention. Almost every single member I have ever talked to, argued with, slammed my head against the desk in frustration at, provoked a thought, or who has managed to make me laugh has touched me in some way, and I do thank you all for that.
To those amongst you most special…and you know who you are…I’ll see you on the other side of the monitor, when the time comes. For now, however, it’s time to throw back the curtains, let some air into the room, and remind myself that there’s a big wide world out there.
