Just out of curiosity, have any of you seen anything on these froums to get you to change your opinion or standpoint?
Whether it involves ghosts, paranormal ability, conspiracies, religion, or even movies; has there been any instances where the evidence/argument was strong enough to get you to modify, or turn around your prior notions?
If so, what, and who caused your change of heart?

I've changed my mind about certain psychic abilities. I do still believe in the deeper empathy, but I believe now that a lot of it can be explained. I've gotten more information that indicates TK doesn't exist (not that I ever
truly believed it, but didn't know for sure). Thanx to Aquatus and Falco.

You could at least try to sound more intelligent when making such a claim.

No, no changes of mind here. I think I've become a little more open-minded about some stuff though. And I never did fully realize, before finding this board, how many people want to be X-Men.

The only thing more idiotic than bad grammar is talking in the third person moron, its a sign of mental illness.
Actualy Caustic it's a little silly not to also read the rules before posting in the forum. Please refrain from insulting and flaming other members.

to answer your question JPMD1 yes as a matter of fact some of your thoughts were helpful and educational, and I'll have to go with ISIS on Marduk too, I've learned a lot from him.

I used to only believe the news that was on tv, but not anymore, since I noticed that alot of it wouldn't get reported on big news channels, even though it should have.

Personally I have learned more from Hyperactive then anyone. Even though he hates the Christian God he is very bright and has made me sway my opinions about right and wrong. But I also love talking to Zandore and you too. All of you are bright. I guess it is the age. Yall sexy men.

Well, I thank you all for your replies, and thank you 101 & caustic for the compliment.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there have been 130 views so far, and only nine souls to state yay or nay.
Perhaps I should have made it a poll, but I would prefer to 'hear' peoples responses.

Maybe i've changed the way i look at some things; in some ways I'm more questioning of claims to have experienced or particularly to be able to do things but not provide any evidence to back them up; but on the other hand, all the 'evidence' in the world mightn't be enough to convince me if the basic premise - for instance, any conspiracy theory you care to name - is so blatantly barking mad. What I think I have learned is to question both claims and evidence much more; not to take anything at face value; that the more eager someone is to convince you of something, the more skeptical you should be.
(p.s. And yes, 'ppl r stupid' and the like does make me want to bang my head against a wall... i haven't changed my mind in that respect.)

Nope!!
Although I've lead some individuals to believe that I had a change of heart/mind, the answer is NO!
I tend to be 'open-minded' and listen/read others opinions, but they don't sway me.
I agree with Dr1273! I couldn't have said it better . . Well said Dr1273!

I haven't been here that long but I now try not to push my beliefs on other people because they can belive what they want too. And there is no reason to argue over it. I have learned from everybody on UM how to...... I seriously lost my train of thought

damnit all I know is I have learned but i forgot what else i learned.
I will come back and edit this post if I remember.

To tell the truth, I've become even more skeptical since I've joined this site..Before that I had no idea how, crazed, paranoid, delusional, or just plain country-dumb some people could actually be..Well, I did, but I thought it was local. Now I know that this is a worldwide phenomenon..
And I love every moment of it!

I have learnt a lot. I have not so much changed my point of view, though I have modified my ideas and adapted them to be more solid. I still believe in reincarnation, I still believe in a Universal spirit and I still believe in Magik, only now I know more as to why I believe and also How they are possible.
I also feel that most words ending in kinesis drive me insane.

thank you 101, but i don't "hate" the christian god (because to me he does not exist, and how could i hate something that does not exist?

)
changed my opinion? not really, but it has givin me some interesting insights into "personal qualities"/"personal experiences" (something lacking when my entire understanding of religions mostly academic). i also have to agree with falco

Over all, my opinions are relatively the same now as they were when I started. i have however learnt a great deal from each new perspective. My beliefs have been strengthed, I have greater insight now than before. I have occasionally reviewed my beliefs and modified them slightly.
As I said though, the main thrust of my beliefs remain the same.
Does this anwer your question?

It says to say somebody who has made a difference. I think that a lot of people would say that more than one person has made a difference in their thinking. I know it's true for me, although I haven't exactly changed my point of view, I've learned a lot from most people that post on UM.

If anything has changed it would be that I'm much more open-minded than I was before I showed up here ( I was looking for a giant rabbit by the way

). I also believe in a lot less than I used to. Hell, I'm a borderline, that's right borderline skeptic and I used to be total believer. I still believe that some things are difficult to explain but I don't think every Tom, Dick and Harry has powers or anything.

Really awesome place to come, and get mostly worldly views on all issues. First came here last year to discuss Night Demons and it was all the topics and ideas that sucked me in... in less then a year I have opened my mind a great deal more and understand a lot more about the world around me.
