I don't know where this file came from but It doesn't let me delete it when I right click it it shows no option to delete. I tried click and dragging but it doesn't work. Has any one run in to soem thing like this or know how to delete this file. I tried running viruses and spyware scanners and it doesn't detect it as such.

Try starting up in safe mode (tap F8 while it starts up). Could mean it's in use, safe mode may keep it from running whatever it's doing on startup... if it's some kind of virus/malware or file in use anyway. You could also right click it and select "properties". Make sure "read only" isn't clicked.

We had something like that on our computer about six months ago. It looked like it was some kind of picture file. Not only could we not access it, but it was impossible to delete, as you said, there was absolutely no option to delete it and if you highlighted the icon you could get no information nor click the delete button or anything else to get rid of it.
In the end, we bought a new computer (not because of that picture file I hasten to add mind lol). Now because we were giving our old computer to someone else I deleted our ISP on it, that took the file with it. Pain in the butt if you don't want to do that mind, plus our ISP on that computer was on dial-up and not on broadband.
I wish I could help you though

There are numerous files that are loaded up during some downloads. Many of those have to do with malware and spyware. In some cases the file is labelled in use (as someone else mentioned) and cannot be deleted. Others place an "access denied" using a superuser style of attribute which denies all users access.
However, there are ways and means. A good website for dealing with this stuff is
http://www.pchell.com/support/spyware.shtml which has a good number of listings of malware and such, and ways to get rid of it. Keep in mind that some of the spyware/malware downloads also come from places that actually sell and distribute the stuff, so if you load up spyware removers, stick with the free ones that are well known, such as Lavasoft's Adaware. For firewall and malware (nastier stuff) you can check out Comodo, which has a free firewall and malware stop (active). Zonelabs has Zonealarm, a good firewall, but since Zonelabs was bought by a commercial entity, it has deteriorated somewhat. I used it until recently, switched to Comodo. Comodo is also a commercial entity but orients towards the signature business, and uses the firewall etc as an advertising tool, the difference being Comodo firewall has no advertisements: it simply draws attention to the company through distribution of some good free software.
Recently I loaded up a spyware removal tool that was produced by a spyware company (unknowingly, of course)... Took several reboots and use of a program that adds "delete on reboot" to the explorer right click menu. That's also available on pchell website.
Good luck. Hope this helps.

try it in dos
Start>Run>cmd
then cd\
then cd to wherever the file is
then dir and see how it's spelled there (may be a ~1 truncate)
then del whatever.ext
if that doesn't work, try it in safe mode, go to dos there
if that doesn't work, use a windows 98 boot disk and see if you can go delete it from there
if that don't work... mebbe some other things depending (-RASH) but probably that'll work
Edit: oh yeah, and going from what RabidCat was saying... file might reinstall itself, so maybe have the recovery turned off and as soon as the file's gone reboot. Maybe hard coldboot. May need to get rid of some reg entries too.

All good suggestions. For some of the more difficult ones, I've had good luck removing the hard drive, putting it in an external reader (or just another computer) and deleting it that way. May have to shuffle some permissions around, but it generally works. I'd only do that as a last resort, as others have mentioned it may just come back.
The computer doing anything else funky? It does smell like malware...

you can delete it in true dos....dos prompt won't do it since windows would still be running. Have you tried a system restore where you go back to a date before you got this file? That might not make any difference, though, if that is a downloaded file and not installed...unless you downloaded from a bad source and it actually was installed.

Try to see if it will let you rename it first and then delete it. sometimes that works. If not, how big is it? Is it really causing that much of a problem? If I tried everything and couldn't get rid of it I would make sure I scanned it with a few fully up to date anti virus and anti malware programs and if those all come back negative then just leave it alone.

unlocker doesn't work this file doesn't seem to be a virus or malware. I just dont want this file around it scars me lol to put it in a simple way. It doesn't act like a normal file it has no options aside from open play on my send to ect.. but no delete no property's no rename no copy cut or past.
Please Explain

Find it on your registry.
If you find it, copy the text and save it before deleting, just in case something went wrong.
If that nasty file was saved on windows system file, you can't delete it.
Registry is the quickest way to go if you know what you're doing.

I've had a couple 3D files/folders that did not want to be deleted (in use?). I used Hijack This:
http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-80....html?tag=topicIt worked good for me... Registries can be touchy but it did offer some backup options.
Good luck.

Dunno folks... this sounds more like an orphaned or corrupted FAT32/NTFS record to me.
Try the following (assuming this is a windows computer).
Click on 'start', select 'run', and type 'scandisk' into the box, then click on 'enter'.
A wee dialogue box pops up - select "thorough" , and tick the 'automaticly fix errors' box.
Then click 'OK' and let it run.
It is possible that you will (eventually) get a message saying "some problems cannot be fixed, would you like to start scandisk on startup"... or words to that effect.
Say "yes", reboot the computer, then go away and make a cup of tea. But make sure it's a PROPER cup of tea, with a teapot, and non of this "teabag in a mug" nonsense. And don't forget to warm the teapot before putting the tea in.
After a while (could be 30 minutes or more) you will be asked to reboot again.
See if that helps.
