user posted image rSubmitted by Nigel Watson: Aliens in America took on a whole new meaning 60 years ago when a “spaceship” crashed near Roswell, N.M. The only thing for certain is that something crashed in New Mexico in July 1947. First, the Air Force issued a news release saying a flying disc had crashed. By the next day, the story was that the disc was really a weather balloon. The story was mostly forgotten for about 30 years. Then UFO experts gave the reports new life, and science fiction hasn’t been the same since. The Roswell incident has been the subject of a TV series, “Roswell”; a cable TV miniseries “Taken”; as well as episodes of TV shows including “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “The X-Files.”Feature films that have touched on the crash include “Independence Day,” “My Science Project” and “Hanger 18.”Most films on the subject have been touted as documentaries, such as “Six Days in Roswell,” which serves up interviews with UFO experts and alien abduction survivors. Others in this vein include “The Roswell Incident,” “The Roswell Crash: Startling New Evidence” and “Alien Autopsy.”Many more films have borrowed the idea of aliens crash landing on earth, such as “My Favorite Martian” and “The Brother from Another Planet.”Here are six films available on video and DVD that focus on space aliens who have crashed on Earth. Maybe all those aliens cruising the cosmos need a refresher driving lesson, or at least a map to keep them from bumping into our planet.“Roswell”

(1994) — Kyle MacLachlan stars as the Air Force officer involved in the 1947 incident who tries desperately to figure out what really happened in New Mexico. Also stars Martin Sheen, Dwight Yoakam, Xander Berkeley, Bob Gunton and John M. After accidentally thawing out at a nearby science station, the spaceman starts using blood to raise a new crop of aliens. Also stars Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan and Douglas Spencer.
