I am undecided on whether or not I believe in Gnomes or not, but a friend of my father told me a story about something that happened to her as a little girl.
She told me that when she was about six or seven she was outside playing like all little kids do, she lived in the woods. And she said that little Gnome people who were about five or six inches tall and were wearing small man made clothes walked out of the woods and started a conversation with her they
Told her that they live in the woods that they would build little houses made of twigs and leaves and various other things they would find on the forest ground. They told her that the reason that people never find them is because no one really looks. They talked and played with her the rest of the afternoon, and they showed her how they made their little houses. When her mother called her inside she told her about the little Gnome people and took her outside and showed her were she had been playing but there was nothing there except a neat pile of twigs. Her mother of course did not believe her.
She stills swears that she saw the Gnomes. She is a very religious woman and I don't think she would lie.

Right, if anything her being religious tells us; she's slightly mentally imbalanced.

kids have imaginary friends, I think its safe to assume they have imaginary gnomes as well.

Welcome to UM, Pauwau.
In my opinion, just because she's so religious, doesn't mean she can't lie. And also, just because she's so religious, doesn't mean that she can imagine! We all see all kind of things when we were kids. Some we remember vividly, others were so clear, sometimes, it's even harder to separate facts and fictions. Well, anyway, whenever she tells you this story, say to her you believe. However, I'll let you decide for your own. As far as I can tell you, gnomes and little people can't be real.

If it weren't for the fact logic tells me otherwise then I'd whole heartedly like to believe in the story, then again children may see things us adults don't just because they're more in tune to stuff. Hence the reason children often see a ghost before an adult even knows something is up. Odds are though she just had a very vivid imagination as a child. Oh btw, welcome to the forum.

My grandmother told me once that something like that happened to her mother, or maybe it was her aunt? Anyways, a LOT of people in Peru have stories like these, which makes me think that they do exist.

Well, there we go...was that really needed? Thanks for adding NOTHING.
What it tells us is that if she is devout in any manner, that intentionally lying would be something she would not like to do. Who knows what her motivations are. or it could be that she had an amazingly vivid imagination as a child. She may believe that she did indeed have this experience. I personally doubt that gnomes exist though.

Well sounds interesting, though I'm not quite sure I believe in gnomes. I've heard another story similar about a young boy that saw this little man in the bushes while his mother was near by. Supposedly it asked the boy to come with it and the boy said no to the little man. The kid told his mom and she went to go see it herself but nothing was there, however she felt that something was there before. She also knew that her child was too young to lie. As for me unless I see one I find it hard to believe.

I look at it this way...If she says she saw it as a child, still believes it, and it makes her happy, then so be it....

It sounds like a perfectly charming story an adult would tell a young child. It doesn't mean she's lying, she's just telling tales for the same reasons people tell stories about Santa Claus.

I didn't mean that she wouldn't tell a lie because she is religious what I meant by that is that in the small highly christian ( which I am NOT affiliated with) town that we live in. Were they think that things like believing in little gnomes are devil worship. I don't think she would stake her reputation by spreading around a story like that if she didn't think it was true.

Its a shame that this site tries to halt conversations about illegal substances...but here it is related to the myth. It is in ancient psychedelic experiences that the entities we know as gnomes, faeries, dragons, etc were first conceived. Apparently, if one were to consume/smoke anything with the chemical DMT, (and if you took enough of it), you can 'meet' these funny little gnome-like creatures that are full of childhood innocence. They seem happy to meet you as they jump around and laugh and wave.
Scotland has a species of salvia, (an herb LEGAL IN THE USA), that contains DMT. I think some of those old tales of faeries and gnomes came from some old kilt-wearing Celts sitting by the fire and smoking the local herbs.

I recently had a Sleep Paralysis episode that had these small men in it.. They were about a foot or little more tall.. they were very muscular, and reminded me of cavemen, but with more egg shaped heads... They were grunting, and saying stuff I couldn't understand.. there were maybe 8 or 10 I guess. they picked my mattress up with me on it and started toting it away LOL I laugh about it now, but then I was petrified... It was extremely scary... but anyway... from what I've read here, it reminds me of what I saw during my SP the other night... anyhoo...
O' I agree with you EQGumby.. the religious comment was totally out of line..

Sure they exist. You have to allow your mind to be open to all possibilities of the universe and you can encounter lots of things, mostly be chance. I have seen them going through my apartment as shadowy figures in the same size as this lady described. I see them as shadowy figures and sometimes they leave an odor, like burning tobacco. Since I don't do second hand smoke I ask 'please take that smoke elsewhere instead of my personal space', and it is done though I may not have seen the knome/elemental. In my path, they are 'elementals'. The story of the 7 dwarves, they are knomes/elementals. Folk lore is where they are best known now.

Okay, quick question. If gnomes are living in our house all the time, we just have to open ourselves to their presence... what do they eat? The socks that go missing out of my dryer?

For those of you who don't know, most people who are very religious refuse to lie because it's a sin (As in the case of the Leary woman who slaughtered her family, even served one of them up as a stew, not knowing it was actually a sin to murder someone, but admitted instantly to the police that it was her, because lying, she knew, was a sin.) I would just like to say that that is how stories have been for centuries. And towards the Middle Ages, they began to change. The gnomes, or other sort of Faeries, such as goblins, or elves, typically told the mortal world that as they progressed, the elder races, such a faeries, would windle and become less common, only those who truly believed in them and looked for them would see them. How many of you have authentically stopped to look for faeries, specifically when you were children and still believed. I suggest that you force yourself to believe and then perform a thorough investigation in a secluded place, away from civilization.
Growing up in the mountains, deep in the forest, amidst the other Celtic folk, I can honestly say that I, much like most of my kin and family, believe in, or believed in, faeries, demons, vampyre, werwulves and such, I have met many witches as well, but come now! By initial definition, a witch is igh figure in celtic religion, naturally, I've been meeting them all throughout my life. You'd be surprised, despite the new-age versions, Celtic Theoligism (Religion) has never actually passed away, it has been taught and practiced, since its initial creation, thousands of years ago. It is still carried on in small circles throughout the world, specifically in Celtic lands and where we Celtic folk settled in other continents, where the children learn it from parents, who learned from parents, who learned from parents and so on, over many centuries. PATRICK LOST!

Hello, I have a website completely dedicated to gnomes, you should check it out. It's www.freewebs.com/devinrutherford
I do believe what your friend says. Gnomes are very discrete, and usually the only ones who notice anything are the ones approached by them, or the ones who actually look for them, and know what they are looking for. And gnomes oftenly approach kids more than adults, because kids are more open minded, and willing to listen and belive. An adult is usually someone who wouldn't care. They usually only approach those who will bother to listen, not those who don't believe. I would strongly suggest that you check out my site, and maybe reffer her to it. It holds valuable info that you, and her, will want to see...thanks for reading this!
Have a nice day!
