Okay, so I go to this totally awesome but secluded camp in the Sierra Nevadas in CA, and on of my counslers was telling this story about him and another counsler. Here is how it goes. They were making thier rounds one night (walking around the camp making sure there were no intruders) and after they finished they get to go to a counslers cabin because another counsler is watching the kids. So while they were walking they both stop at the same time and look at each other for some odd reason and then start walking at the same time and then they started to feel cold and they both had that fealing that they were being watched and followed. so they pick up the pace and still they have that odd fealing. So now they are both sprinting and they KNOW that something is chasing them. None of them said a word this whole time because they for some reason couldn't. Scary, huh? blink.gif

When you are in the darkness your senses heighten and become more alert to your surroundings but that can cause fear and cause you to imagine things.

But i can tell you a more truly terrifying story.

One night a group of teens decided to go camping in some nearby woods.
The woods were a little gloomy and creepy which is why they decided to camp there so they could tell horror stories over some food by the camp fire, They were enjoying themselves and having a laugh when one of the teens who went to collect the food from a nearby ruck sack came back with a horrific look on his face, The others asked what was wrong and the teen told them of his horrific discovery........When the teen reached the rucksack to collect the food he discovered that they had all packed tinned food like beans and had forgotten to pack a tin opener or a knife to cut into the tins....and that was not the worst of it....They had planned to sneak away some booze to the camp site but they had forgot that also........their night was ruined.....The idiots.

Told you it was a terrifying story. tongue.gif

I had something similar happen to me at the camp where I worked last summer. We had just returned from a late night caving trip. I had a really bad wound on my knee and knew I needed a shower (I could have just as easliy washed off in the river the next day because I was slated for white water canoeing, but I didn't want the dirt to stay in the wound any longer). The closest showerhouse that was open was a half-mile away; the half-mile hike was partially in deep woods. Well, on the way back I had the undeniable feeling of being watched. But I knew nothing was out there. You see, as someone has said before, our senses are hightened in the dark. It's mearly a trick of the mind. Paranoia run rampant. But it does make for a good story to scare the little kiddies!!

Sounds like a combination of the dark and quiet triggered off their mini hysteria!

It's easy to imagine things, especially in the dark.

This reminded me of a camp I went to during primary school, it was situated near the bush and we would go on these bush walks around midnight with the councillors who would tell us of this hermit who lived out there with the animals and really hated being disturbed. We were told that the hermit would chase passerbys and send his *trained* animals on whoever walked on the path next to it's shack, when we reached the path next to the shack we were told to be silent or else we would invoke the wrath of the Hermit.

Pretty tame when I look back on it, but as a 11 year old it sure did scare the crap out of me when we had to pass that shack.

why? it could have just as easily if not more easily been an animal.

Yeh sometimes when its 3am and i'm not drunk, i walk down my street and i swear i have a feeling someone is watching me. And seeing as i live in a street full of retired old folks its deffinetly not them
ZombieHunter117
I think everyone has that feeling because your out in the forest all these animals around you making weird sounds everyone has heard weird camp stories and there brain thinks this could be the camp you start to get scared and boom you think your being watched it could just be a animal but you think it could be a someone following you your heart starts beating you get sweaty and you start running but there still behind its your brain trying to play trick on you.
