I have many lucid dreams. Something I have not expieranced much is the ability to go back after I awoke, and picked up where a dream left off. Let me explane.
I had a dream a few nights ago where I was in a large house with my sister. I was hand cuffed, and and for some reason I had the knowledge that the people who owned this house had been murdered. While my sis and I had nothing to with the deaths she was taking advantage of the situation and trying to rob the house . I took was doing my share of ransacking, but it was because I believed that the keys to my restraints were some where in this masive house. It was a dark place and somewhat frightening. I was also aware that the murdered couple's children were in the house and had not heard of the deaths of their parents. I think there were three kids roughly 7-10 years old. At one piont I wandered away and found the keys I was seeking in another part of that house. This is about the time I woke up and remember using the bathroom and getting some water. I then returned to bed and before my head hit the pillow I was back in the house. Here, the children, realizing the fate of their parents, confronted me. I told them that indeed my sister had robbed their house, but I assured tham I was only looking for the keys to my restraints. I tried effortlessly to comfort them because they seemed upset. I dont remember much after this except waking up again and falling back asleep. Where, again I found my self in this strange house with an impending sence of doom. There seemed to be a lingering fear in the house. This time around, it seemed I had adoped these children and where living with them as a care giver a long with an unknown man. I found him a the kitchen cooking where he sent me to find something in the basement. Once in the base ment I was attacked by a large dog and thus awoke the final time.

I can not remember ever having a dream where I awoke and returned to the same dream situation after again going to sleep. Any one else? It isn't something I have been able to find anything on.

um, yes, to tell you the truth, thats happens A LOT to me. almost every time i have a nightmare, i normally have full control of it, as in , i know when i am dreaming, and in my dream, i curl up into a ball, tuck my head in between my legs, and start concentrating really hard, i almost always wake up. i can wake up, and i can stay up for like a couple of minutes, but im like still pretty much sleeping, as in, im awake, but my body is sluggish, and my brain doesnt really respond fast. i know whats going to happen when i fall back asleep, and try to prevent falling asleep, but i always doze off. the thing is, im still awake, like, i can hear whats going on around me in real life, but my eyes are closed, and im like asleep. i try to move, but its like my brain doesnt send any impulses to me limbs when i tell them to move. my dream continues right where it left off. im dreaming, but im still awake, and im like paralyzed. and my dream keeps on going. i always end up re waking my self up, by trying real hard to move my limbs, and they finally do, and i snap out of it.

i know its kinda like a sleep paralysis, but its different than. normal SP is when you are awake, but cant move but what happens to me, is that i am partly awake, and im dreaming.

i dont know if thats what happens to you, but it happens to me a lot. where you partly awake when the dream continued, or did you just fall asleep really fast., then it continued?

Yep happens to me sometimes. I had an interesting one, not as fascinating as Yours though, that I was trying to date a guy off Housewifes. I had talked him into dating me. I was lounging on his couch. I went to get up off his couch and found myself standing beside my bed, completly suprised, I went back to sleep and finished my dream. I did that a few more times, getting up or moving while dreaming. But back to the subject. I have dreams about places i have never seen or been in. This particular apartment I dream about has changed from a hole in the wall in a leaky attic, to a new refurbished apartment redone, but still an old house. I think people have left me food from the previous renters and in another dream they left me dishes. Other houses I have dreamed of too. I have weird dreams complicated dreams. This one house I dream of is a haunted scary house. I dreamt about it more than once but only one time was it really scary. But the continueing dream I have had those too, waking up three times sometimes.

yea, i have never moved around in a dream before, when it happens to me, like i said, i am still partly wake, but i cant move, and the dream continues, like it was a movie projecting on my closed eyelids, i am seeing it, but im in it, i am still awake, but by body is asleep. its really weird.

I actually think we do this kind of thing more frequently than one might suspect.

I have a number of dream sequences where I am in a dream and realize its a series. I can recall the prior events and get a feeling for the current flow of experiences. Since we remember only the dreams we experience just after we wake up, and then it seems only for a short time, who can say how many dreams we are having that are not part of a sequence as you have described.

The dreams we tend to remember are the ones that make enough of an impression on us to wake us up.

John

I have been having weird dreams lately where I can't hardly move in my dream, it's like I have sleep paralys but I am still asleep and dreaming. I start falling down then soon I can't hardly move or open my eyes in my dream and no one will help me. I have a lot of dreams where I am trying really hard to open my eyes and I can't open them. Funny thing is I have a tic disorder like tourettes and today I had that problem, lol. My husband had to guide me around, we were at a park. But I have had these dreams before I had the tic disorder.

Actually, I had this dream that I hated how it was going and when I woke up I was like WTF!?!? So, when I went back to sleep, I ended up back in the dream, but I totally changed what had happened that I didn't like and the story took off from there. So, when I woke up the second time I was REALLY weirded out.

Hey John. Thanks. Most helpfu. I'd never thought about the "series," thing before, but itcertainly holds true. I do have many dream "settings" in my mind thast I often return to. Never thought of it before. Thanks.

that is a weird dream and i can wake up and go back into my dream all the time.. the trick is controling ur dreams. Its a whole other world, you control everything that happens, becomes, and will stay. You make ur environment and control it. Ive only been able to do it three times but it is something truly crazy. Ill explain it sometime. by the way thx for the text about the stag and bats ;-)
