An Easy Weymouth man was arrested for drunk driving twice within two hours on Sunday.

Michael Murphy, 38, of Academy Avenue, had three prior operating under the influence of alcohol convictions when he was arrested just before 1:30 a.m. following an accident in the Heights. About two hours later, Murphy was busted again after allegedly taking his impounded car from a tow yard and driving home.

A police officer who, ironically, was transporting another alleged drunk driver to the police station, came upon an accident at Green and North streets in the Heights. Murphy was taken into custody there after it was determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

Another officer had spotted Murphy speeding towards the Heights at nearly 60 mph in a 30 mph zone just before the accident.

Murphy came up with the $400 bail and was released. Shortly after being freed at about 3:30 a.m., the towing company notified police that Murphy's car was missing from the lot.

Officers went to Murphy's home where they found him sitting in his vehicle. A quantity of marijuana was discovered during a search.

He was held overnight without bail pending arraignment in Quincy District Court.

Murphy is being charged with fourth offense operating under the influence of alcohol, speeding, endangering, not driving in marked lanes, possession of marijuana, driving an unregistered and uninsured car and attaching plates.
