Full Version: 7 don'ts after a meal

* Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

* Don't eat fruits immediately - eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

* Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid.This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

* Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked.

* Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

* Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

That's crazy stuff. I do like ALL of those after I eat. LoL Especially the smoking. That makes me mad. It's the first thing I do after I eat. thumbdown.gif

Very interesting. NEVER heard of any of these except the last one, Don't go directly to sleep. I can't do that or I get heartburn so badly that it will actually wake me up and make me vomit. (sorry to be gross, lolol)

Well i deffinatly have to light up a smoke after i eat, i don,t drink tea but i gotta have coffee! I don,t ware a belt so that takes care of that, i usually take showers so the bath thing is no problem, sleeping after i eat gives me heart burn so i don,t do that,walking? does having to stand and do the dishes and put left overs away count? or walking from a resteraunt to the car? Na! theres too little walking involved in those activities to count! I,ll probably keep doing what i have been doing!

I think I do the "bath" thing sometimes. I don't know. And I don't walk off my food. I rather sit down infront of the computer or t.v. As for the rest of them, I don't even do.

If I'm really tried. I DO go straight to bed after eatting. I don't to force my body to stay awake.

I eat fruit with my meals all the time. o.O Oops. I don't smoke, but practically everyone around me does so that certainly can't be good. I always heard that you aren't supposed to eat within three hours of going to sleep. I always try to do this, but that seems to be the time when I get hungriest. laugh.gif

Anukis,

That's a pre-diabetic response due to high blood sugar. Eating smaller meals throughout the day may prevent your sleepiness. I use the word "may" since what you eat also plays a role.

Me too -_- and also does drinking tea with dinner count as bad? cause i do sometimes.

Sorry, but those points are all ridiculous. I can't believe people buy in to things like this so easily. I'm not going to go in to details, but:

Your respiratory and digestive systems are independant. You're always going to get the same amount of toxins entering through your lungs from any given cigarette whether you're eating or not. At least if you have a good diet your body is equipped to maintain proper functions to deal with any damage that is done by said toxins.

Why would eating fruit fill your stomach with air moreso than anything else? Having gas in your stomach is an every day occurance, air is always present in your stomach and gases are often released from swallowed substances. What do you think burping is for? It releases those gases. There's no harm done.

Two words: Stomach Acid.

It's true that if you're warm that the blood supply to your extremities will increase, however the influence that this will have on your disgestive system is extremely minimal. Your body is more than capable of providing the blood necessary to maintain its vital functions.

Physical activity is actually beneficial.

When you're asleep your rate of metabolism slightly decreases, but absolutely no health risks are associated with this.

Give your body some credit, people! If we were that frail we would have become extinct millions of years ago.

Thats crazy!

I always try to have fruit at the end of the meal (or at school, the entirety of the meal) and having a cup of herbal tea in the evenings after dinner, imo anyway, is one of the nicest ways to finish eating!

I can't believe that it is bad for you though.

I would have thought that there would be one golden rule after eating, which is no jumping up and down withing hald an hour.
